All about the Brave browser: In just five years of existence, the Brave browser made an impression and is a benchmark in the protection of privacy on the internet.

Effective protection
The Brave browser automatically includes the option HTTPS Everywhere. Today, most websites use the https protocol, which helps secure data by encrypting it.
But for those who don't, Brave is here and turns http to https. Brave has also understood that the Google browser is spying on us and offers by default to use another more privacy-friendly search engine: Qwant.
In addition, the symbol of Brave is found right next to the address bar: a lion's head to protect us from advertisements. A kind of Adblock integrated into the browser.
While most sites perform fine despite Brave's restrictions, some do not display properly. Brave can also prevent scripts from activating.
Be careful though, enabling this option means giving up on many websites that use scripts to display their content.

Choose your ads
However, it's hard to imagine an Internet without ads. Indeed, if you follow content creators on the Internet (blog, videos, etc.), you know that advertising brings them to life.
But Brendan Eich, the creator of Brave, is no beginner (he is one of the co-founders of Mozilla and the creator of JavaScript). Brave does not seek to eliminate all advertising but to restore power to the one who consumes it.
First of all, depending on the site you can choose whether or not to block ads with just a few clicks. But Brave's real revolution lies in the Basic Attention Token (BAT). This cryptocurrency rewards internet users who watch ads. These come in the form of a notification outside the tab.
When we tested the browser we found this system to be very intrusive because they look the same as a Windows notification. However, you get used to it pretty quickly. Especially since it is possible to delete them or to adjust how many ads appear per hour (between one and five).

Brave then promises to give you 70% of the advertising revenue in the form of proofs. At the time of writing these lines it takes about 1.69 BAT to make $ 1 (and about 2 BAT for € 1).
If you already see yourself making a living just surfing the Internet you will be arrested right away. It is difficult to earn more than a few tens of dollars per month with this system (yes we tried…).
On the other hand, it was designed so that we can easily leave tips for creators on the Internet. So, even if you don't watch YouTube or blog ads, you can still pay the creators for whom you have the most esteem. We can even reward the author of a tweet with BAT… As long as he uses Brave.
More simply, the Brave self-contribution system automatically allows the BAT to be donated to sites that have activated the Brave reward system, on which we stay the longest.

Turning the bat into dollars, not so easy
If you still want your money back rather than donating it to creators, that's more difficult. You have to go through Uphold, a financial conversion service that is not owned by Brave. You must therefore register on this platform and provide all the information necessary to prove your identity (name, address, date of birth, etc.).
If we are honest, we can tell that Brave was not designed to collect his BATs in hard cash when all we do is watch commercials.

Optimizing the Shield
Click on the lion head next to the URL bar to access the Shield options. Check that the protection is activated. You can choose different levels to block ads: leave them, block them standard (you will have a few more) or aggressively.
You can also block scripts but this may make the browsing experience more difficult.
Optimize your BATs
In the menu click on Brave Rewards. Make sure that announcements are turned on. Click on Settings and choose the maximum number of advertisements displayed per hour (from 1 to 5).
You will receive your BATs every month. In the section, Self-Contribute you can choose which sites you donate to and how much. This amount will be paid monthly.

Navigate with TOR
Make your private browsing even more private with Tor. In Brave, click on the menu and then on New private window with Tor.
Wait a few seconds, until the Tor status shows Connected. You can then navigate safely (but much slower).

Download Torrents
Brave includes a torrent client (like uTorrent) which allows you to download torrents using the Brave browser. Go to your favorite torrent site. When you click on the "magnet" link, Brave automatically opens a window in which you just need to click on Start Torrent.
This manipulation only works with magnetic links (Magnet), not with when you download a .torrent file.
Brave test & review: fast but boastful browser
On its site, Brave boasts of its speed. It would load web pages 2-8 times faster than Chrome and Firefox. Even though it is indeed fast (it doesn't load a whole bunch of cookies, trackers and ads), his performance seems a bit exaggerated.
In fact, today, the speed of browsers is roughly equivalent. It is unlikely that with normal navigation you will notice any difference between Brave and the others. On the other hand. if you multiply the opening of tabs, then you will notice a much more efficient display and fluidity.
