SANTA CRUZ leader Archie Cruz fired back at reports that he was "imitating" a track during the band's performance last week in West Hollywood, Calif.
The April 6, SANTA CRUZ — whose current range consists of Croix accompanied by new recruits jerry jade (guitar), Tommy Bradley (bass) and Randy McDemian (drums) – played a show in the legendary hall of Whiskey A Go Go. The next day, a video filmed by fans of SANTA CRUZ performing the song "Under the Gun" was posted on the " concertsrock » YouTube channel, showing Croix at one point, stepping away from the microphone as the chant continued to be heard through the AP until Croix, Jade et Bradley went back to their microphones for what was the chorus section of the song.
Two days after the concert, SiriusXM radio personality Eddie Trunk taken to his Facebook share the concertsrock video of the "Under the Gun" performance, and he included the following message: "It's beyond words... everyone I guess is okay with that?! Like I said and said, it has become an epidemic that needs to stop. So bad that it's to the point that the band doesn't try to fake their lip sync… mind blowing. Imagine paying to see a band you like “live” and it's anything but. What's the point ? Imagine you're a band that goes all out to be live, and others don't, play on a computer, and fans say how great they sound. it will only get worse. Madness.
After first suggesting in a instagram story that everything was planned and intentional, Archiewhose real name is Arttu Kuosmanen, finally responded to the criticism in a video message posted on his social media on Tuesday, April 12. In the two-minute video, which can be seen below, he said, “I just feel like I need to clear the shit up a bit. Obviously, there was a lot of backlash after our show at The Whiskey last Wednesday. And we were accused of "miming" on the track, which is not true. We had backing tracks, but we only had a few layers, and that's literally what all the fucking big bands are doing right now, which just happened to screw up the timing, so I feel like I need to clear that up now. »
Archie then reproduces his vocal track from the section of "Under the Gun" where the alleged "mime" took place, and explained, "It's my voice. That's what I do live. It's my piece. It's 100% live. -greater harmony to support this shit. He then played a recording of what he said was on tape to back up his live performance at the Whiskey concert, and he added, "So please don't talk about something that you don't know anything or accuse us. to do something that is not true. So fuck off and shut the fuck up.
In addition to uploading a video message explaining Whiskey's accident, Archie shared a instagram story in which he publicly apologized Trunk for telling him last week in a social media post that he "fucked on the wrong team" and that his "career would soon be over." "Even though I don't think he was right about what he did," Archie says of Eddy“Calling him by names was NOT the gesture and not the way one should behave. »
In recent years, more and more artists have been given a pass to rely on pre-recorded tracks, drum triggers, and other assorted technologies that make gigs more synthetic but also more cohesive. For better or worse, pre-recorded tracks are becoming more common for touring artists of all skill levels and genres and they aren't just used in pop music – many rock artists use playback tracks to varying degrees.
"Under the Gun" is the first single from SANTA CRUZthe new album of, "Return of the Kings"which will be released this fall via M-Audio Theory. Croix recorded 2019 sequel "Katharsis" as an individual studio project throughout 2021 in his native Finland.

As I said on my show yesterday, this issue goes far beyond @SantaCruzBand. I actually like the band and I had Archie once. I appreciate the apologies, but personally I will always believe that live rock should be live. And a ton of bands do NOT play on the tracks. https://t.co/X40ZMv6rV7

I've long railed against the epidemic of bands using live tracks. And how fans and promoters just accept live acts and pay to see a live band and it's anything but. That's how bad it got. Everyone agrees with that?! Unreal! https://t.co/EHp6zW57i4v
