Amazon announced on Wednesday that its Streaming free IMDb TV will be renamed Amazon Freevee.
The new name will take effect on April 27, the company said in a press release.
The retailer said the service of Streaming will also expand its original programming by 70% in 2022, with spinoffs from shows such as "Bosch: Legacy" and other series. It will also add more original movies.
Amazon said the ad-supported service has tripled its monthly active users over the past two years and is set to launch in Germany later this year.
"We look forward to building on this momentum with a growing roster of inventive and broadly engaging originals, and we're thrilled to establish Freevee as the first AVOD (advertising-based video on demand) service with content that the audience research,” Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, said in the press release.

Wednesday's announcement comes as the retail giant embarks on a path to bolster its Streaming. Last month, the company reached an $8,5 billion deal to acquire Hollywood studio MGM, making it Amazon's second-biggest acquisition after its $13,7 billion deal with Whole Foods in 2017. This acquisition was intended to allow the company to better compete Netflix and Disney+.
