'Dead End: Paranormal Park' canceled on Netflix after two seasons
– Reviews News
Hamish Steele, the writer and creator of Netflix's animated children's series Impasse: paranormal parkannounced that the series was over after two seasons.
Originally called deadendyNetflix has ordered all 20 episodes of Impasse: paranormal park in 2020 with season 1 releasing on June 16, 2022, and the second and what will now be the final batch of episodes on October 13, 2022.
The series, based on a comic book series, was about two teenagers and a talking pug who teamed up to battle demons in a haunted theme park while saving the world from a supernatural apocalypse.
The series has been praised for its portrayal of LGBTQ characters and earned a 100% score on RottenTomatoes. The show also led to an open letter from five Republican senators to the Television Parental Guidelines Oversight Council about "disturbing" LGBTQ+ content.
In total, the show spent ten days in the top 10 in America's Kids, but failed to crack the top 10 on television.
On January 13, 2023, Hamish Steele announced the show's cancellation to his Twitter followers with a statement that reads:
" Hi friends,
I've been holding this news for a while now, hoping we can reverse it, change it, make it something good. But unfortunately, I don't think that's possible at the moment.
It is with a heavy heart that I tell you that Dead End is over.
Obviously, we never wanted that to be the case. We actually created a writing room for Season 3. We have ready-to-use scripts, layouts, and schematics. It was always intended to give these characters the ending they deserve. But unfortunately, the powers that be don't want more.
Honestly, we've been lucky enough to go through everything that's happened over the past few years. And I want to acknowledge my thanks to Netflix for commissioning the show and for giving us the freedom to tell this story. We made history together and I couldn't be more proud of those twenty episodes and every member of our team.
I want to say a huge thank you to the fans. Your art, cosplay, fic, reactions, TikToks, and every interaction with me has been a delight. I could never have asked for a warmer response.
I am so looking forward to posting this news thinking a lot of you. I hope you are well.
So… a sad day. But I think we will finish this story one day, one way or another. For now, I'm hard at work on the third and final DeadEndia book which I hope will serve as a wrap-up. Our plan for Season 3 was largely based on that. And I continue to release shows with the same heart as Dead End.
But until then, I hope Barney, Norma, Pugsley, Courtney
and the entire Phoenix Parks team will continue to provide
comforts you in times of darkness.-Hamis”

Hamish concluded his Twitter thread by saying the best way to support the future of the franchise is to buy DeadEndia: The Shattered Halo.
This comes just days after the Netflix creator internal work announced that a decision to renew the series has been reversed and is the fourth major cancellation of 2023.
It also comes during a two-year period in which several high-profile children's animated projects on Netflix were canceled early or even before seeing the light of day.
