what is it Elevate sure?
The film will serve as an adaptation based on Isabel Wilkerson's book. The New York Times bestselling author is also behind The warmth of our suns (a project Netflix is also developing with Shonda Rhimes).
According to GoodReads, here is a summary of Caste: the origins of our discontent and what themes you can expect from the next Netflix movie:
Through a multi-story structure, Caste examines the unspoken system that has shaped America and chronicles how our lives today are defined by a hierarchy of human divisions that spans generations. Beyond race, class or other factors, there is a powerful caste system that influences the lives and behavior of individuals and the destiny of the nation.
Bridging the caste systems of the United States, India and Nazi Germany, Isabel Wilkerson explores eight pillars that underlie caste systems in all civilizations, including divine will, bloodlines, stigma , etc. Using compelling stories about people like Martin Luther King, Jr., baseball's Satchel Paige, a single father and young son, Wilkerson herself, and many more, it shows how Insidious caste hangover is experienced every day. . She documents how the Nazis studied American racial systems to plan their expulsion of Jews; explains why the cruel logic of caste demands that there be a lower rung for those in the middle to measure up to; She writes about the staggering costs of caste to health, depression, and life expectancy, and the effects of this hierarchy on our culture and politics. Finally, it indicates how America can move beyond the artificial and destructive separations of human divisions, toward hope in our common humanity.
When will production start in Elevate for netflix?
After more than two years of active development, Netflix is finally ready to start filming the new project.
A casting call was spotted in early November 2022 seeking a Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to appear in the film and it was stated that "actors from the Ambedkar community are encouraged to apply". The casting call also indicates that they are also looking for a younger version of the person for the series, which means there will definitely be jumps back and forth in time.
