There is no doubt that new technologies have revolutionized our daily lives. The business world is no exception. PeopleDoc RH, a French company, has understood this well. She designed a platform de software solutions dedicated to human resources (HR) in order to improve management. What are they really worth?

Active for a good fifteen years, PoepleDoc is a French company that collaborates with nearly 500 employees. It offers companies software solutions that simplify the management of their HR. And it's been successful. In 2021, its turnover reached 34,259,600 million euros. What is his story ? What software is developed by PeopleDoc? Let's take a closer look.

The PeopleDoc story

It all started in 2007 on the campus of HEC Business School in Paris, a prestigious business school. PeopleDoc was then only a small project conceived by two brilliant students of the School: Clément Buyse and Jonathan Benhamou. They developed a unified digital file management system they called Novapost.

The success of the HR platform is dazzling. In 2009, its two co-founders had to face very strong demand for the design of a product dedicated to HR management. They then decided to design a Cloud technology to lend a hand to the HR teams of companies.

Saving time and productivity

The objective of such a software solution was clear: to enable companies to benefit from invaluable time savings in terms of managing their HR. The PeopleDoc HR platform allows them to automate many processes, especially the most tedious ones.

Three fundraisers

The success of this fledgling company is therefore palpable. Faced with its inevitable and exponential growth, Clement Buyse et Jonathan Benhamou carried out the first fundraising : an envelope of 1,5 million euros in Seed from Kernel Capital Partners and Alven Capital (2012).

Later, in 2014, PeopleDoc has invested in the international market to offer its software to companies around the world. Here again, to better support its activities, the company raised new funds worth $17,5 million in Series B. It was made withAccel Partners who was the main investor in this transaction.

And it didn't stop there: a third Series C fundraising took place in September 2015. PeopleDoc succeeded in obtaining $28 million from Eurazeo, the main investor who participated in the operation. Other investment funds were also involved: Kernel Capital, Partners and Accel Partners.

The takeover of PeopleDoc by Ultimate Sotfware

The success of PeopleDoc is indisputable. It has therefore aroused the interest of weights in the sector. Also, in 2018, the American company Ultimate Software bought the French company for an envelope of 300 million dollars in cash and shares. He is a specialist in HR solutions listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States.

For your information, Ultimate Software has been around since 1990. It has been listed on the stock exchange since 1998. It is this company that designed UltiPro in 2022. It is a famous platform for managing all aspects of HR, ranging from work planning to payments.

Why did Ultimate Software acquire PeopleDoc?

Two reasons can explain the takeover of PeopleDoc by Ultimate Software. First of all, the latter has succeeded in establishing its position as an international leader in the field of HR, knowing that it has acquired an extremely successful start-up. PeopleDoc was also a gateway to the European market.

Then, the two companies are active in the same sector of activity, namely the design of software dedicated to HR. As a result, Ultimate Software was able to expand its product catalog by integrating that of PeopleDoc.

This whole process can be automated through the software HR Process Automation. In this same perspective, software users can be notified of any change made in HR, in a fully automated way.

Another PeopleDoc HR flagship product: Advanced analytics. It's a dashboard that brings together all kinds of HR data, as well as the decisions already made by management. We will also mention Employee File Management which allows you to centrally store and manage HR documents.

PeopleDoc today

As mentioned above, PeopleDoc HR was acquired by Ultimate Software. In October 2020, the American company joined Kronos. She thus becomes Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG). Following this merger, it was the American Aron Ain who took over the management of the new HR software giant. The objective of the operation was to strengthen the presence of the different groups on an international scale.

PeopleDoc is an essential component within the new American giant. In fact, through its presence in Europe, the French company has enabled it to strengthen its presence on the Old Continent. In addition to knowledge of the European market, UKG was able to take advantage of PeopleDoc's know-how in designing software dedicated to HR management. Today, UKG serves over 12 clients worldwide.
