Immerse yourself in a marathon of series or films that are part of the catalog of the different platforms of Streaming is, for many, the ultimate plan to disconnect from the world and take a well-deserved break.
Platforms such as HBO, Netflix, Star+, Disney+, Primer Video, among others, offer a large catalog of films, series, soap operas and documentaries to entertain their subscribers. Each month, it is renewed, removing certain content from the airwaves and integrating other productions of interest to the public.
Netflix is one of the services of Streaming the most popular. According to the company's financial results for the end of 2021, in the last quarter of the year, it gained 8,3 million new subscribers, reaching a figure close to 221,8 million subscriptions. And although for the vast majority the most important thing concerns the quality of the productions that make up the catalog, there are some curious details within the platform.
One of them is the story behind the “skip intro” button. Surprisingly, according to the Digitaltrends portal, its establishment was motivated by a series belonging to another house: game of thrones, from HBO.
The success story based on the books of George RR Martin, considered by many to be one of the best series of recent times -despite the criticism received for its ending-, had a rather notable peculiarity from its first chapters. Before the plot began in each installment, the viewer had to wait one minute and 42 seconds, while the official or presentation.
Although it was well-produced material, which showed the map of Westeros and its main houses, at the same time that the official theme of the series was played and the names of the actors appeared, for some viewers the wait seemed eternal, which may have motivated Cameron Johnson, director of innovation produced at Netflix, to implement the 'skip intro' button.
In fact, Johnson was already a faithful follower of game of thrones in 2016, when he had the idea to develop the button allowing to skip the introduction of each episode of the series. Initially, Netflix enabled the option in some countries and only for 250 series, however, its impact exceeded expectations, so the platform opted to expand the button to more territories and content.
As quoted by Digitaltrends, the 'skip intro' button is pressed an average of 136 million times a day. Hence, it has become a massively used resource for subscribers who don't want to miss a single second when enjoying their favorite series.
