Netflix, Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix and Legendary Television are teaming up for a new animated series based on the Grave robber Deductible of video games coming to Netflix in 2023.
First announced alongside an anime project for Skull Island in January 2021, Grave robber is a new anime series project that comes exclusively to Netflix.
Netflix lists the project on its own site as a Japanese anime action series described as "an adventure on the road".
The IMDb description of the project is as follows:
“Follow heroine Lara Croft as she explores new territory. »
Tomb Raider as a franchise has been around since the mid-90s and was one of the biggest gaming franchises in history that also made its way to the big screen in the form of the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider movies.
In total, there were 17 video games in the franchise with another entry reportedly on the way. The game will reach its 30th anniversary in just 5 years (feeling old already?).
Three films based on video game IP have been released so far, including Angelina Jolie's two entries, including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Cradle of Life. A reboot starring Alicia Vikander arrived in 2018 with a sequel in development to be released by Warner Brothers.
The new series will pick up shortly after the events of Square Enix's trilogy of games released between 2013 and 2018.
Who is involved in the Netflix series Tomb Raider?
The leadership of the editorial team is tasha ho, who is currently working on three projects, including Tomb Raider. The other two are Black Belle and Red Sonja for Millennium Films, starring Hannah John-Kamen.
On Tomb Raider's 25th anniversary, Huo spoke about the upcoming series, saying it would "unify the Tomb Raider timelines" and move "beyond the Survivor Trilogy".

Joey Soloway is said to be directing episodes on Tomb Raider. They are best known for their work at Amazon Prime Transparent.
Legendary Television is producing the series for Netflix in conjunction with Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix, DJ2 Entertainment and Tractor Pants.
The animation studio that will be working on the project will be Powerhouse Animation Studios, which is behind Netflix. Castlevania and most recently signed a first-look deal with Netflix. They operate from Austin, Texas.
Howard K. Bliss, Stephan Vladimir Bugaj, Dmitri M. Johnson and Jacob Robinson serve as executive producers.
How is the production of the Tomb Raider series?
Writing for the project wrapped at the end of May 2021, with Tasha Huo announcing that they had completed the writing process, meaning it's now up to animators and voice artists to bring the words on paper to life. They celebrated appropriately by throwing axes.

Which Tomb Raider characters will appear in the Netflix series?
Well, let's start with the obvious. Tomb Raider will obviously feature Lara Craft.
We learned on September 13 that Lara will be played by hayley atwell who is best known for playing Peggy Carter in Captain America and her own standalone series, carter officer.
One character appearing in the Netflix series that we can confirm will be Zip.
Zip appeared in both the original timeline and the Legends timeline, but based on the cast list, it looks like the Netflix series character will be more like the Zip seen in the Legends timeline. .
