About a year ago, Beamdog, the studio known for re-releases of Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, confirmed that they were working on their new IP. Today, the project is finally unveiled: it is MythForcea roguelite with a stylistic characterization that pays homage to 80s cartoons.
« Inspired by beloved 80s cartoonsMythForce combines swords and sorcery with thrilling first-person combat into oneroguelite adventure perfect for Saturday morning. Take on the dungeon alone or unite with friends to take on an ever-changing evil castle! »this is the description given to us by Beamdog.
In MythForce, the player can become a cartoon hero in a fantasy world of the 80s. The experience will be easy to approach, but difficult to master, assures Beamdog. In true roguelite style, each time the player is defeated they will be forced to start over from the beginning, but every game will make it a little stronger than before.
The first-person gameplay will be based on a dungeon crawling structure, and there will be treasures, traps and terrors lurking around every corner. The title will be playable alone or with 3 friendsand each of the heroes will have their own unique abilities.
MythForce will be released in Early access exclusively on the Epic Games Store on April 20. You can get a first look at the title in action through the video released at the opening, and find more details on the Epic Store.
