A new month means lots of new movies to watch, but Netflix has also released some great movies. Here are our picks for the best new movies added to Netflix this week.

big fish (2003)

Three great Tim Burton movies just landed on Netflix last week and while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be a no-brainer to most, we've chosen to highlight big fish.
Nominated for an Oscar and winning a string of awards elsewhere, this Ewan McGregor-directed drama follows a reporter trying to find out more about his slowly dying father.
It's a magical adventure movie that isn't talked about much in film circles, but maybe it deserves to be.
Scary stories to tell in the dark (2019)

Now that Netflix and Guillermo Del Toro are working on many projects together, it's worth checking out some of the creator's previous projects. Although del Toro wasn't in the director's chair for this 2019 film, he was heavily involved.
The beloved horror mystery is set in 1968 and sees Stella and her two friends encounter a drifter who calls himself Ramon. Together they find a notebook full of horror stories.
snatch (2000)

Guy Ritchie is perhaps best known in recent years for big Hollywood blockbusters, whether it's Sherlock Holmes, King Arthur, The Gentlemen or Disney's Aladdin. Most Brits, myself included, know it best for its excellent comedic crime drama from 2000. snatch.
The incredibly well-written film sees plenty of familiar faces play a host of characters with all of their paths crossed after a priceless diamond is stolen.
It's straight out of IMDb's 100 Greatest Movies of All Time, and if you've never seen it, we highly recommend it (turn those subtitles on though!).
seal team (2021)

Netflix is now the home of Streaming exclusive to the South African animated feature Seal Team, which premiered on Netflix on Christmas Eve.
The film makes perfect use of an increasingly popular animation technique where it's actually a cross between stop-motion and CG.
In the film, you follow Quinn, who assembles an elite team of seals to take on the sharks.
the lost girl (2021)

Even if do not look was Netflix's big Christmas movie for the masses, The Lost Daughter certainly deserves worldwide viewing to rave reviews and comes highly recommended for award seasons in the coming months.
Starring Olivia Colman (best known for recently appearing in two seasons of Crown) the film follows "a woman's quiet vacation by the sea takes an ominous turn when her fixation on a young mother staying at a nearby villa reawakens memories of her past".
Against all odds (2016)

Continuing with the award-winning films, Against all odds was among the rebuffs when she was nominated for 4 Oscars.
The incredible action crime drama is about a divorced father and his older brother (who happens to be an ex-con) who seek to save their ranch by any means necessary.
Excellent performance throughout makes it a must-have watch and it lasts less than 2 hours of battery life.
