After their first successful collaboration in a fall from grace, Tyler Perry and Netflix continue their partnership with another ambitious feature film: The blues of a jazzman. The film is a favorite project of Perry and was the first screenplay he wrote 26 years ago. After trying to make it for two decades, he finally found the perfect Netflix partners to produce.
The blues of a jazzman will be written and directed by Perry, best known for her projects as the character Madea in several of her films, House Payne's, the oval, and further.
Perry has spoken about the film several times in the past and recently commented on this partnership with Netflix:
“I've waited a quarter of a century to tell this story and now is the perfect time and Netflix is the perfect partner. This is my labor of love; the one I want to do more than anything.

Producer Michelle Sneed, a longtime Perry collaborator, will also work on this project as an executive producer.
