– Reviews News
Destiny: The Winx Saga returns for season 2 on Netflix and is expected to arrive in 2022. Here's everything we know so far about Destiny: A Winx Saga season 2, including new cast members and news that filming has begun.
Destiny: The Winx Saga is a Netflix Original teen fantasy drama series based on the hugely popular Winx Club cartoon series.
Created by Brian Young (who will return for Season 2), directing duties have been split between three directors, Lisa James Larsson, Hannah Quinn and Stephen Woolfenden. The series is a collaboration between Archery Pictures, Rainbow SpA and Young Blood Productions.
A Destiny: The Winx Saga Has it been renewed for a second season?
Official Netflix Renewal Status: Renewed (Last Updated: 18/02/2021)
We reported in June 2020 that Destiny: The Winx Saga had been renovated together Ozark et warrior nun.
It wasn't until February 2021 that Netflix revealed through their Twitter accounts that Destiny: The Winx Saga will return for a second season!

A Season 2 announcement video has also been posted on YouTube to further confirm the news.
Speaking of the renewal, Brian Young, who serves as showrunner, had this to say about the renewal:
“The six episodes of the first season have only scratched the surface of this incredibly rich world and the powerful fairies that inhabit it.
As Bloom's story continues to evolve, I can't wait for you to learn even more about Aisha, Stella, Terra, and Musa!
And you never know who might show up at Alféa next season…”
Since its launch on Christmas Day, Bridgerton is firmly seated at the top of television in several parts of the world, especially in the United States. The series that finally toppled period drama was Destiny: The Winx Saga January 23. Note that the Original's reign at the top only lasted eight days, before being ousted by Bridgerton.
What about the controversy over the series?
With a franchise as popular as Winx Club, naturally, any live-action adaptation will come under some scrutiny.
The quality of the series aside, the biggest controversy the series faced was due to casting decisions. Notably, the character of Musa, whose character design was inspired by Chinese-American actress Lucy Lui, was not cast by an actress of Asian descent, and Emily Applebaum was cast instead.
Fans had a harder time with the removal of Flora's character in favor of Eliot Salt's Terra Harvey character. Although Flora's potential season two debut was teased by Salt (and we can confirm that will be the case shortly).
Arguably, these "controversies" weren't reason enough to cancel the show.
New characters for Fate: The Winx Saga season 2
We are happy to confirm that at least three new characters will be introduced in Season 2 and in July 2021 we will receive confirmation of who will be playing them.
- Flora will be played by Paulina Chavez – Described as an earth fairy like her cousin Terra, having a calm nature but hiding a dark secret. They choose a Hispanic woman for this role.
- Sebastian will be played by Éanna Hardwick – Appearing in World of Winx season 2, Sebastian will apparently be heading to the Netflix series. Described as a student with a brilliant mind but questionable morals.
- Gray will be portrayed by Brandon Grace. - We couldn't find a reference to Gray (correct us if we're wrong) in the original animated series. This character is defined as a transgender man portrayed as a specialist with a secret (everyone is hiding secrets in Season 2!). Also, he is about to have a relationship with Aisha in season 2 which he gets with his "charismatic charms".
Additional casting is still ongoing through August 2021. MovieExtras.ie notes that they are looking for identical twins to star in Season 2. We spoke to a fan account for the series who did not recall any identical twins in the source material. .
IMDb lists Jayden Revri (seen in The Lodge and Dead Boy Detectives) to play Devin in Season 2.

We received an update from producer Brian Young on January 22, 2022:
“We are still working on it, and will be for a while!
I know it seems like forever, but a show like #FateTheWinxSaga has a complicated and intense post-production process. Luckily, we have an incredible team of editors, VFX artists, composers, music supervisors, sound designers, colorists and more to help us out. And rest assured, everyone works hard every day to ensure that we bring you the best possible version of the program.
The good news is that everything is going well and we are very happy that you see it when it is ready. And believe me, as soon as I'm allowed to share ANYTHING, I will! »
When can we expect to see Destiny: The Winx Saga season 2 on netflix?
It could be a long time before the series returns to Netflix. Filming for the series took place in September 2019, before wrapping after a few months on December 13, 2019. Thirteen months then passed before the series debuted.
Given the production schedule outlined above, our best guess is that it will release in mid to late 2022.
What to expect from the second season of Destiny: The Winx Saga?
Bloom's powers grow stronger
In her dramatic fight with the Scorched, Bloom was able to grow her own wings, becoming the first fairy to do so in many years. Using her wings allows Bloom to harness even more powerful magic, especially ancient magic that not even the staff at Alfea College can harness.
With her new powers unlocked, Bloom will only get stronger. The source of Bloom's power is the Dragon Flame, and if she can control it, she can eliminate the Scorched forever.
It may take Bloom a while to learn how to control her powers, as the first time she activated her wings, she quickly collapsed from exhaustion using them.
Will other fairies have wings?
Bloom being the first to have wings, it won't be long before we see the other fairies learn to do the same. Besides being an extremely powerful fairy, we still don't know why her wings were activated, but if she can figure out the key to the skill, other fairies can learn ancient magic.
Rosalind takes over Alfea College
With the help of the Queen of Solaria, Rosalind killed Farah Dowling. With her return as Headmistress, it's clear she'll use her authority to pressure Bloom into unleashing more of her powers. With a war looming on Alfea, Rosalind will likely use this opportunity to push the students to become even stronger and eventually turn them into soldiers who will fight in the coming war.
