Airplane mode is a common thing on many devices today. And computers running Windows 10/8/8.1 are no different. Airplane mode is a very useful feature, especially for business people who travel a lot by plane, but it could also cause problems and we are here to try to fix it.
How to disable airplane mode in Windows 10?
As I said in the introduction, airplane mode is a built-in feature of Windows 10/8.1 and later systems which is very useful for those who travel by air. It allows you to use all system functions offline, without connecting to the Internet, which saves you huge additional costs.
But once you get off the plane and your airplane mode is still on, you'll definitely want to turn it off again, but what if you can't? Don't worry, try some of these solutions and it will probably fix your problem.
Disable airplane mode from Network panel
First, in case you need to check if you've turned off airplane mode correctly, follow these steps:
- On the desktop, move your mouse cursor to the lower right corner of the screen and go to Settings
- In the opened Settings panel on the right, click on the wireless network icon in the lower section
- In the open Networks panel on the right, move the toggle under the Airplane mode section to the left to disable the Airplane mode feature.
- To re-enable Airplane Mode, follow steps 1-3 while moving the switch under the Airplane Mode section to the right.
Action Center in Windows 10
- Hold Windows Key + A and open Action Center
- Click Airplane Mode to turn it on or off.
Disable airplane mode in settings
If you want to permanently disable Airplane Mode, you can do so by going to the Settings menu and turning it off.
- Press the Windows key and select Settings from the start menu.
- Click on Network and Internet
- In the left pane, click Airplane mode
- Disable it and close the Settings window.
What if you can't turn off airplane mode?
If you can't turn it off at all because the switch is greyed out, check if there is a physical wireless on/off switch on the device. If you find a physical switch device and it's turned off, just turn it back on and you should be able to turn off airplane mode on your laptop.
We recently covered how to fix airplane mode errors, so you may find some useful information. Some users have also reported that Windows 10 switches to airplane mode on its own. If you have any issues, please search our site for a solution or leave a comment below.
