When you take a screenshot, your smartphone captures everything on your screen and saves it as an image. But what if you want a snapshot of what's not on screen? It can be anything from a thread of text to a long shopping list that can't fit into the usual dimensions of a screenshot. Fortunately, your smartphone iPhone or Android lets you easily take a scrolling screenshot.
A scrolling screenshot expands the boundaries of a traditional screenshot to whatever you need. You no longer need to manually scroll and take multiple screenshots to capture a complete snapshot of, say, a website. Your phone can automatically capture and stitch multiple screenshots together to create a large image or document. Here's how.
If your iPhone is running iOS 14 or later, you can take a scrolling screenshot without any external third-party apps. Apple offers this feature right in your iPhone's built-in screenshot tool. The only problem is that it only works for apps updated to support it, such as Apple's proprietary apps and others like Google Chrome.

- On your iPhone, navigate to the page from which you want an extended screenshot.
- Simultaneously press the power and volume up buttons on your iPhone as you typically would to take a screenshot.
- Tap the floating screenshot thumbnail in the lower left corner.
- Switch to the "Full Page" tab to capture a scrolling screenshot.
Depending on the length of the page, your iPhone will take a few moments to scan it. Once done, you can view and scroll the page in the snipping tool. You can doodle on it with the bottom row of options, add text or a signature, and crop it.
When you are happy with the result, tap "Done" in the upper right corner and select "Save PDF to Files". Your iPhone will be stored in the Files app.
Apple's solution is not very personalized. This is where a third-party app like Picsew comes in. Although it lacks the simplicity and ease of your iPhone's native screenshot tool, it's worth exploring if you're someone who intends to take frequent screenshots. extended screenshots.

Picsew cannot scan and capture a long page by itself. Instead, it can merge multiple screenshots you take or intelligently transform the different scrolls of a screen recording into a scrolling screenshot.
Once you have your extended screenshot, Picsew lets you edit it precisely the way you want. You can remove your iPhone's status bar and scroll bar from pages, rearrange the order, and scramble sensitive information.
You can try out some of Picsew's basic features for free. For some of the premium features, you can purchase the “Standard” upgrade for $1. To access all of them, you will have to pay $2.
On phones running Android 11 or later, you can capture an extended screenshot from the standard power and volume down shortcut. Unlike Apple, Google's tool lets you save it as an image rather than a PDF document.

- To take a scrolling screenshot on Android, navigate to the content screen you want to save.
- Simultaneously press the power and volume down buttons to trigger the screenshot tool.
- At first, your phone will generate a full-size screenshot and display a thumbnail in the lower left corner of your screen along with a handful of options. Tap the "Capture more" option, then tap the thumbnail.
- On the next page, you will find a large snapshot of the target page. Drag the center accentuated borders to cover as much of the screen as you want.
- Select the floating pen icon in the bottom right corner to edit it further. You can overlay it with text, draw on it, and highlight anything. Press "Save" when you're done.
These instructions are for phones with the stock version of Android, such as Google Pixel 6. If you have a Samsung, OnePlus, or other manufacturer's phone, your steps may differ slightly. On Samsung's OneUI, you'll have a button with two downward-facing arrows on the options bar next to the screenshot thumbnail instead of "Capture more". On OnePlus, there is an option called "Extended Screenshot".
People with Android 10 or older smartphones shouldn't feel left out either. There are plenty of third-party apps you can download to grab scrolling screenshots, and the one we recommend is called ScreenMaster.

ScreenMaster is equipped with a host of tools for capturing and customizing long screen shots. It can automatically scroll, collect multiple screenshots and stitch them together to create a scrolling screenshot. When you have the screenshot you're looking for, you can tag it, highlight key sections, add emoji stickers, and more.
As long as you can manually scroll to capture and create an extended screenshot, ScreenMaster is free. But if you want the automatic process, it will cost you $5.
