As more and more TV shows and movies are being created, especially content that helps diversify the LGBTQ+ media that audiences have seen so far, some of the media that has aired has gained popularity with of the general public.

With the growing availability of more and more series to air during Pride Month to celebrate the progress of the LGBTQ+ community (and also highlight what's still to be done), there are a few shows that absolutely stand out. .

Heart stroke
Based on the webcomic of the same name, Heart stroke went out on Netflix in 2022. Heart stroke centers on Charlie Spring, a shy and quiet openly gay student at Truham Boys Grammar School who develops feelings for Nick Nelson, the seemingly straight rugby star and champion (or as Charlie puts it on the show, "rugby boy ").
As Nick and Charlie grow closer, their relationship deepens and romantic feelings arise...Heart stroke Season 1 is currently streaming on Netflix, and fans can read the original webcomic (which the series follows closely) online for free. Heart stroke just renewed for 2 more seasons!

pose is an FX show about 1980s New York Ball culture. pose was a groundbreaking LGBTQ+ cast, featuring the most transgender actors in a main cast of characters in television history. The 4-season series follows Bianca Evangelista (played by MJ Rodriguez) as she navigates her identity in an ever-changing world and forms her chosen home and family. As the series progresses through the '90s in the second season, topics such as HIV/AIDS in the LGBTQ+ community — especially black and Hispanic queer/genderqueer people — are touched upon.

pose tells much-needed queer real-life-based stories about underrepresented groups through the lens of those underrepresented groups. The show also features Billy Porter, Dominique Jacksonet Evan Petersand is streaming on Hulu.
Special
Special is a comedy Netflix featuring Ryan O'Connell based on his memoirs. O'Connell plays Ryan, a gay man with cerebral palsy who tries to break away from his accident victim identity and pursue his dreams. As Ryan deals with dead-end internships, snotty bosses, an overprotective mother and strange encounters, he discovers how to change his life for the better.
Special is absolutely hilarious and a wonderful queer story that surrounds a disabled queer person and how they feel in society. Special is Streaming on Netflix.
Our flag means death
Taika Waititi counter attack with Our flag means deatha swashbuckling comedy about swashbuckling and piracy, and the infamous "gentleman pirate" Stede Bonnet (played by the incomparable Rhys Darby). While this may not seem like a queer show, viewers would be surprised at the many queer portrayals and relationships in this series. Waititi plays Blackbeard, the legendary pirate, who partnered with Stede Bonnet for a brief period in the story.

Love, Victor

The acclaimed series based on the film and the book Love, Victor releases its 3rd and final season in June. Love, Victor is about a boy named, well, Victor, and his coming out and his relationship with his boyfriend Benji (in season 1) and finally his struggles with Benji when another guy, Rahim, comes in scene (in season 2).
The show also addresses the difficulties of trying to come to terms with sexuality in a Hispanic and deeply religious home. Love, Victor Season 3 is the final season of the show and will be released on Hulu on June 15, 2022.

The classic LGBTQ+ show, RuPaul's Drag Race, is a must-have watch for Pride Month. Ending its 14th season in April (not counting the many spin-offs including all stars), the legacy left behind and what the show continues is the epitome of queer culture.
And of course, who else to celebrate Pride with than none other than RuPaul with. RuPaul's Drag Race and its other sister shows air on Paramount+ and VH1.
