Netflix starts auditions for you this Thursdaynot one of his most ambitious projects: the adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez's novel -One Hundred Years of Solitude- like a TV series.
The platform of Streaming, under the leadership of the production company Dynamo (which has already worked on other projects with the company such as Narcos, Le Braquage du Siècle or Histoire d'un Crime: Colmenares) will seek the protagonists of the new series, which revolves around seven generations of the Buendía family, with an open cast and in which anyone can participate.
"I think if there's a novel that reflects something unique and somehow unites us and is representative of how deeply rooted it is, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and precisely these details also make it so universal. There is a portrait of Colombian history, which is a portrait of Latin America and the whole world. It was a satisfaction that Rodrigo and Gonzalo García Barcha (son of Gabriel García Márquez) agreed to give us the rights and we take our time and a lot of effort because we want everything to be perfect, with the scripts, the work production, directing and casting work to build this universe of all the characters”, contextualizes Francisco Ramos Vice President of Content for Latin America at Netflix, in an exclusive conversation with EL TIEMPO about this call.
Those interested in auditioning for the big production should go to the website: http://www.casting100añosdesoledad.com.

This process is added to visits to music and dance schools in municipalities such as Lorica, Pelayito, Cereté and Chorrillo, as well as in large cities such as Montería, Santa Marta, Bogotá and Medellín, among other things, in the search for artists for the characters. “This casting is very important because some inspiring works are going to be consolidated, such as the production design and construction of Macondo (the fictional town where the story of One Hundred Years of Solitude takes place), since we are building a universe that must fit together. (…) We want to look for all kinds of actors. ANDThe casting team and production company have done a thorough analysis – advised by experts on the job – of how the appropriate ethnic or racial representation should be of the characters who found Macondo and those who will appear as they go along. as the city grows, explains Francisco Ramos.

“The idea was also that by developing an audiovisual work that adapts the most important novel in Colombian and Latin American literature, was made through an open processin which the country accompanies us in all aspects of the implementation of this project, of course, a professional process in which our Arcadio Buendía could end up being a person who has never played a role in a series, but if this is the right person will be in our hundred years of solitude,” he adds.

It was a satisfaction that Rodrigo and Gonzalo García Barcha (son of Gabo) agreed to give us the rights and we take our time and a lot of effort because we want everything to be perfect.
Selection work will have a very large team and as Netflix's chief content officer reveals, "It's going to be a long process, starting now. In addition to other stages such as the selection of locations and others which, if they are complex in a series or a film, imagine what that entails in a production around One Hundred Years of Solitude”.
This is the first stage of an important historical research, which will be completed by the development of workshops and a dynamic of awareness among the selected people. The goal is to create harmony, core and familiarity both on and off camera.
The adaptation of One Hundred Years of Solitude predicts that it will be an intense, detailed, and very challenging process on Netflix's production spectrum. “We are going to do a series entirely in Spanish, except for certain moments in the play, like when Melquiades speaks in Sanskrit.but a commitment to verisimilitude, as it is written in the novel”, emphasizes Francisco Ramos, who also recalled the importance of Rodrigo García's participation in this project.
“Rodrigo is a filmmaker and he's very excited about all the production design work, he's more involved as a director and Gonzalo as a visual artist., gives his point of view, which is very useful to us. There is a very good relationship", concludes Ramos, about this first meeting, with those who in the future (which feels closer and closer) will give new life to the story created by Gabo and a new look at his literary universe. .in One Hundred Years of Solitude.
