© Netflix'The Paper House: Korea' premiering on Netflix: is it better than the original series?
The Paper House: Korea is one of the most notable releases of the week on the service of Streaming Netflix and subscribers will be able to take advantage of it this Friday, June 23. It's the remake of the Spanish hit that has become a global phenomenon, but with a story that will be told from a new perspective, as shown. In spoilers We've seen its first few episodes and we'll tell you if it manages to top the original show. There will be no spoilers!
When it comes to a version of a story already recognized by most, it's hard to have the elements of surprise, but right from the start the plot centers on The Professor, a criminal mastermind who plans to carry out the greatest robbery in history. recorded on the Korean Peninsula, featuring a group of strategists and genius thieves with different personalities and abilities.
In principle, a series of important details are presented that will influence the plot, such as the conflict between North Korea and South Korea. It is treated in a particular way that takes the viewer into the conflict between the two nations and the search for a supposed unity, and this is where Yoo Ji-tae, the actress who plays Tokyo, who leads a complicated life until she is saved by the professor and the rest of the premise already known by the fandom is developed.
While it may have features and reality issues that enrich the story, they are not handled in the best way and in the main story, they are anecdotal data that is only used to justify certain actions of the characters. That said, in what will come out of this focus only on the flight, we find no signs indicating a separation from the Spanish program and in the end the result is a version that never arouses curiosity, since its stages are more than knowledge
It is not exactly the same, since they decide to change some original ideas, although they are not fully exploited either to differentiate themselves and, therefore, they could be assimilated to what has already been seen in the past. The fact is that it offers no innovation and the variations presented are really poor, so it wouldn't be strange if the public felt like they were seeing a copy with different actors. In this sense, there is no type of contribution and this leads one to reflect on the little meaning that its realization had.
The Paper House: Korea He had a great opportunity to take aspects of the original series to turn them into something better, but in making the decision to follow in the footsteps of the first screenplay written by Álex Pina, he makes the same mistakes and does nothing to Avoid them. The lack of identity is glaring for the Netflix production and this is precisely what should not happen in a remake, of which few manage to achieve their objective without falling by the wayside and falling into platitudes.
