When on September 8 Elizabeth II died, Netflix announced that the recording of The Crown, the fictional piece about his life and reign, was paralyzed as a sign of mourning and respect. Now, two months later, we can already see the official trailer for season 5 which will be released on November 9th (two years after its last installment).
The Crown season 5: the Windsors scandals
The fifth season of La Couronne focuses on the family and institutional crisis of the British royal family in the 1990s. At that time, Isabella II (Imelda Staunton) had to deal with separation from the current king Charles III (Dominique West) and Lady Di (Elizabeth Debicki), as society questioned the role of the monarchy in Britain at the turn of the century.
"People will never understand what it's been like for me. I never had a chance, ”says a crestfallen Diane during this preview which places us during her convulsive divorce from the then Prince of Wales. It will be, also in this episode, when we see the famous “dress of revenge” or a recreation of the always controversial interview that the princess gave to the BBC: “I will not go in silence. I will fight until the end”.
In these new chapters we will also see Mohamed Al Fayed (Salim Daw), his son Dodi (Khalid Abdalla) and Camila Parker-Bowles (Olivia Williams).
