Street Fighter celebrates 35 years, Capcom opens the festivities with the logo
– Reviews News
The first Street Fighter conquered the Japanese arcade The 12 August 1987, forming one of the biggest pillars of the fighting game genre. The series quickly entered not only video game history, but popular culture as well, including anime and live-action series, movies, manga, and even an RPG!
2022 marks the 35th anniversary of the beginning of Ryu and Ken's adventures, participants of the first Street Fighter tournament organized by Sagat. Since then, all sorts of things have happened and the roster of playable characters has grown significantly. The market is full of competitors today, but Street Fighter remains one of the pivotal fighting game titles, along with Tekken and Mortal Kombat (both born years later).
Fans of the series can expect great things from this anniversary: producer Shuhei Matsumoto has indeed promised that the next chapter of Street Fighter will be announced this year. It seems that Luke, the latest DLC character introduced in Street Fighter V will play an important role in this iteration, although details are scarce at this time.
While waiting for more information on Street Fighter VI (or whatever it's called) and the saga's 35th anniversary celebrations, Capcom has released the logo that will accompany the fans this year and which you can admire in the tweet below.
