The last two episodes of the fourth season of stranger things Netflix will be out in a few weeks and expectations couldn't be higher. Especially when all the characters are at uncertain points in the story or in the worst case, in mortal danger.
With a more violent, cruel and dark story than previous episodes, the new chapters of stranger things They clarified something. The story's maturity has arrived, and it will most likely come with painful twists and turns for die-hard fans of the show.
And that probably includes the death of one of its iconic characters from stranger things. Or so, the Duffer brothers hinted in a recent interview. The creators commented TVLine that audiences should care about Steve, played by Joe Keery.
The former Stranger Things badass, who had a flawless redemption arc, is one of the central faces of the story. During season four, he was more involved in the plot's more dangerous moments. He was even injured relatively badly in the final chapter of the cut single plot. And that set off some alarm bells.

Now, the Duffers seem to confirm - albeit in a veiled way - that the character could die in the remaining chapters. Matt Duffer, in fact, made it clear he was aware of the public interest in Steve. “Everyone is still worried about Steve. I like. We still have to beat Steve one way or another. So the Demobats have certainly done that job pretty well already this season. The commentary suggests that, perhaps, the bites the Upside Down character suffered aren't trivial. Or not as much, as the public had hoped.
On the other hand, Ross Duffer confessed to being enthusiastic about the renewed interest around stranger things. “It's wrong to say 'excited', but I'm glad people are worried. And they should worry about the last two episodes (of season 4), for all the characters. »
It's not the first time in recent months that the Duffers have hinted at a possible major death in the history of stranger things. Especially as we approach the series finale with a two-episode fifth season. Now, with Steve injured, trapped in the Upside Down and pinpointed, in the midst of a violent situation out of necessity, the clues disturb the audience. Could Steve's death be the final closure of the series' most innocent leg? Even more painful: could this be the big arc of the season in the future?
Minor issues on board
Producer Shawn Levy recently announced that he would leave the show if Steve died. However, the sentence does not completely save Steve, after the Duffers' comments that sometimes "a death is necessary". It's also become clear that the series' transition to a more elaborate and mature production needs an impact shot. And it could well be the physical disappearance of a character who has gone through childbirth in a well-constructed moral and spiritual maturation.
With the Duffers hinting that happy endings are over in stranger things, things seem to have changed in the story. Specifically, with a time-jumping fifth season making a death seem imminent. Is this what you expected in the long farewell chapter of the series' fourth season? We just have to wait.
