Steam is a popular platform for gamers to buy and play games. However, many gamers report slow unboxing speed when downloading new games or updates. So, we will discuss how to fix Steam slow decompression issues.
Alternatively, you can read about ways to fix Steam download stuck at 100% on your device.
What's slowing down Steam unboxing?
Several factors can contribute to slow unboxing times on Steam. Some of the common reasons are:
- game size – The bigger the game, the longer it will take to unpack it. Games with lots of files or high resolution graphics may take longer to unpack than smaller games.
- disc speed – If your hard drive or SSD is slow, it may slow down the unboxing process. Especially if the disk is fragmented, which makes it difficult for the computer to find the necessary files.
- system resources – System resources become limited when many applications are running on it. Therefore, closing all other programs will improve the Stream application process.
- network speed – Downloading files and streaming online videos while unboxing causes network congestion and slows down network speed, which slows down the unboxing process.
However, we will discuss ways to improve Stream's decompression speed and fix the problem.
