Sep 8 (Reuters) - Elon Musk said on Thursday his company SpaceX had had promising talks with Apple Inc (AAPL.O) about using Starlink's satellite services to support the new Emergency SOS feature. iPhone 14.
“We had promising conversations with Apple about Starlink connectivity,” Musk said in a tweet.
“Of course, closing the link from space to the phone will work better if the phone's software and hardware adapt to space signals versus Starlink purely mimicking the cell tower,” he said. (https://bit.ly/3eD2i8p)

At the iPhone 14 launch on Wednesday, Apple said it had selected satellite services company Globalstar Inc (GSAT.A) as a partner to power the feature that helps users send emergency messages from locations distant. Read more
Apple said it also dedicated $450 million from its advanced manufacturing fund to satellite infrastructure to support the service, which is currently available in the United States and Canada.
US wireless carrier T-Mobile US Inc (TMUS.O) said it would use Starlink satellites to provide mobile users with network access in parts of the US, allowing users to connect phones directly mobiles to orbiting satellites.
