Customers will soon have a service of Streaming less to choose from. The reason for this is a court ruling that bans the service.
Dortmund – If you want to exhaust the whole range, you now have plenty of services to choose from Streaming. In the spring of 2023, however, one of them will have to stop offering – the reason for this is a judgment of the European Court of Justice.

Telekom must terminate the service of Streaming : March 2023, it's the end of "Stream on"
For some years, Deutsche Telekom has been offering its own contract customers a bundle for music, video and games with the "Stream on" service, i.e. nothing more than a Streaming. The service is available monthly in addition to the respective data volume, for example with a mobile phone contract.
This principle is also known as zero rate because no data volume is used. But that's exactly what should be banned, as decided by the courts and the Federal Network Agency. The end of “Stream on” in its current form is therefore imminent. But there should also be changes at Netflix – the service of Streaming announced advertising despite a paid subscription.
The service of Streaming of Telekom must stop the service after a court decision
As of April 2022, the Federal Network Agency notably prohibited the marketing of zero ratings Inside the digital reported. The offers would violate net neutrality because they would not treat traffic the same. However, this assessment does not come from the authority itself, but from the European Court of Justice.
This judgment was issued on September 2, 2021 and, in addition to Telekom's "Stream on", also affects the "Vodafone Pass". Meanwhile, two mobile phone makers in Germany also face a ban.

Simply put, the Court prohibits tariffs from being treated unequally. In the case of tax-free offers, there is unequal treatment because "Stream on" can be used indefinitely and is not counted in the data volume of the mobile phone contract – unlike competitors such as Spotify, Netflix or Tidal.
“Stream on” customers: the service of Streaming can still be used as long
However, those who still use the service of Streaming still have time to look for alternatives. Telekom is ultimately not to stop "Stream on" before the end of March 2023. It is currently not yet clear whether there could be any compensation for existing customers for the discontinued offer – e.g. more data volume (more digital news at RUHR24).
According to Telekom, the mobile phone contract itself should not be affected by the ban and will remain in place for all customers – just without “Stream on”. Termination conditions must also remain in place. In the long term, however, the Federal Network Agency expects customers to be offered contracts with more data volume.
