While we're still months away from a potential Apple Watch debut, rumors have been speculating for some time. Unlike last year, we should see at least two new watches from Apple in 2022. Here's a look at what we might see from Apple's wearable tech lineup this fall.
Apple Watch SE2
So far, we've heard very little about a new Apple Watch SE. However, Apple is expected to upgrade its mid-range watch, as it was released in September 2020. Debuting alongside the Series 6, the current Apple Watch SE has the specs of the Apple Watch Series 5. Could the Apple Watch SE 2 have the specs and design of Series 7 and debut alongside Series 8?
The famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman both reported that Apple plans to release an updated version of its more affordable Apple Watch SE. So far, we expect to see an updated processor and the addition of new health features.
While the SE includes most of the features of the 7 Series, it lacks a few. Not to mention thinner bezels, the Series 7 has a full QWERTY keyboard as well as an always-on Retina display. It also has ECG capabilities and a blood oxygen sensor. It is possible that the ECG and the blood oxygen sensor are included in the Apple Watch SE 2.
As an Apple Watch SE owner and not using many health features, I would personally like to see Apple focus on a redesign of the SE 2.

Apple Watch 8 Series
The Apple Watch Series 7 was released in October last year; it's likely that we'll see Series 8 arrive in the fall of this year. Kuo noted last year that the Apple Watch Series 7 would get a major overhaul. The watch was to feature flat sides and square edges. Apple has had to deal with production delays due to this complicated new design that never existed on the 7 series. Could this new design be coming to the 8 series?
An investor note seen by 9to5Mac mentioned that the eighth generation of the Apple Watch may have temperature management capabilities. This feature would allow users to check their own body temperature using their Apple Watch. Mark Gurman also mentioned it in his Light up newsletter.
Le Wall Street newspaper also reported that Apple is working on blood pressure monitoring, advanced sleep tracking and a blood sugar monitor for the Apple Watch. It is not specified when or in which series these features would be unveiled.
Along with a redesign and new health features, it seems inevitable that the 8-series will have the S8 chip, just like the 7-series has the S7 chip, the 6-series the S6, and so on.

Don't Forget the "Rugged Apple Watch"
We've also heard rumors that Apple is considering making a rugged version of this wearable technology. Bloomberg previously reported that this device will be called "Explorer Edition" and will offer shock resistance and a more protective exterior. While it hasn't materialized yet, it would likely only satisfy a small portion of Apple consumers - it's unclear when or if it will debut.

Is there anything else we might see from Apple Watch this year?
