After the complete cancellation of the Batman spin-off, Batgirl, fans have become concerned about the Batman: Caped Crusader animated series from Batman creator Matt Reeves. But just because the show won't be released on HBO Max doesn't mean we'll never see it. Among other things, Netflix is interested in the series.
Big changes are coming to Warner Bros. Discovery. The studio wants to ditch kid- and family-friendly content and create more entertainment for adults. So the new animated series "Batman: Caped Crusader" also had to believe. The series was supposed to start on the service of Streaming from Warner HBO Max and continue the original "Batman" animated series from the 90s.
After it was announced that the series would not be coming to HBO Max, DC fans feared the project, like Batgirl, would simply be scrapped. The film was completed for US$90 million and then canceled after all. But "Batman: Caped Crusader" still seems to be salvageable.
As Variety reports, work on the series is ongoing, and the project will be auctioned off to the highest bidder when complete. Notably due to the involvement of two top producers, JJ Abrahms and Matt Reeves, various services of Streaming would be interested. Thus "Batman: Caped Crusader" could migrate to Hulu, AppleTV + or Netflix. If Hulu secures the series, it will likely appear on Disney+ in that country. Extremely unusual for a DC project.
The service of Streaming who will secure the series will be announced soon. When exactly the project appears, however, remains unclear. Fortunately, animated series are produced much faster than live-action projects.
