Subscription platforms like Netflix are increasingly designing new strategies that adapt to the needs of their users and this time it's the turn of the little ones.
With the name of "Mysterious Box", the audiovisual content service has launched a tool that aims to guide children in choosing the products that could be the most successful to see, according to the algorithm that analyzes their tastes.
Just as Netflix has put the "Play something" option, which the platform randomly puts on the screen one of its productions, the children's section now has the mystery box which, by its name, attracts attention, as if it were a game with its smallest customers.
As is often the case with updates to this type of technology scenario, not all devices are activated immediately. Experts from Folou, a portal specializing in technology trends, indicate that the new option could appear after several days.
With the announcement of the mystery button, TJ Marston, director of product innovation for children and families at Netflix, explained that it's an engaging and personalized experience and was created “to connect children to the stories that shape their world”.
To activate the Netflix Mystery Box, users need to follow the steps below:
- Enter the app and log in to a child's account; This filter shows content that is primarily suitable for children under 12.
- Then, at the top left, select the "Favorites" line or option.
- When choosing highlights for the little ones, the "mystery box" appears, the option most recommended by Netflix for minors is selected and appears automatically, according to its algorithm. The creators make it look like an act of magic.
Will the platform charge users for sharing the password?
High availability Diffusion Netflix continues to bet on offering its audience different subscription plans so that customers feel more comfortable and get greater benefits. However, one of the factors that has affected this platform has been the sharing of passwords between subscribers, which is why it has confirmed that it will start taking drastic measures against this at the end of 2022.
For several years, Netflix allowed subscribers to share their passwords without further interference, which allowed more people to enjoy and use the platform, but this measure was one of the biggest consequences that has stunted its growth.
Netflix reported that of its 222 million paying subscribers worldwide, it is estimated that "the platform is shared with more than 100 million additional users".
In this way, the Netflix plan is charge extra to users who lend their accounts to people living in the same household. Netflix will launch this pilot plan in three Latin American countries: Peru, Chile and Costa Rica.
Likewise, the company pointed out that the supplement will not be done automatically. If a user who does not live in the same house (the same IP address registered by the main user) wishes to enter the platform, a verification code will be requested before being granted access to the account. This code is obtained once the payment of the additional member has been executed.
How much are you going to charge?
The additional fees they have started charging in some countries with sub-accounts for up to two people outside of the main account are:
- Peru: $2,13 per month.
- Costa Rica: $2,99 per month.
- Chile: $2,92 per month.
