friends is a sitcom that aired on the NBC broadcast network and ran for 10 seasons until it ended in 2004 with an impressive rating. It was really not something strange, since the series managed to capture the attention of millions of viewers around the world. With the last HBO Max special, nostalgics returned to see their favorite fans and as much as it weighs on us, today there are no productions that come close to this style.
Now Netflix goes in search of these fans with the presentation of its new sitcom series. For a long time, workplace sitcoms have been a source of revenue for production companies, such as The Office or Scrubs, all gaining huge fanbases in their time. One could describe the workplace sitcom as nearly infallible, with the brocade of the professional world as something we can all relate to. So with that in mind, one would assume that the new series could be a massive hit.
For the younger generation of Netflix comedy fans, the idea of having to leave home to rent or buy the latest content might seem absurd, but for an older generation, it was the norm. Blockbuster's fall from grace was swift as just twenty years ago there were around 9 stores blockbuster in the world and, only 15 years later, there were only 3 left in the United States. That said, Blockbuster has made enough noise in the media rental industry that it's still part of our everyday vocabulary, even if it's for nostalgic purposes.
Blockbuster is the name of the new comedy that Netflix is betting big on, and which will be released on November 3, 2022. The series comes from a long line of great workplace sitcoms, and the success of these shows is often due in large part to its strong distribution. With that in mind, it won't come as a surprise that the cast of Blockbuster is brimming with comedic talent. The first and most notable of the cast is Randall Park (WandaVision), who plays Timmy, followed by Madeleine Arthur (Big Eyes), who plays Hannah, and Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), who plays Eliza.
What Netflix's New Comedy Blockbuster Will Be About
Netflix's Blockbuster, a series about the franchise's last living store
It won't come as a surprise where the show is set, with the 10-episode first season set in the latest Blockbuster store in the United States. Plot information is limited, but we have enough ideas around the series to get fans excited for the release.
The show will follow our main characters as, in an age of easy-to-access media, they work together to try and save the last blockbuster and trying to restore some of the character and community that small businesses can provide. Timmy Yoon Randall Park and his friends, realizing they are the last remaining Blockbusters, have such a difficult task to save the store that it's the perfect setting for comedic pranks.
