Mattel, home of the iconic Barbie doll, has struck a multi-year deal with Netflix to include series and specials of the character on the platform, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
On October 25, a first product of this alliance will be released. It's the interactive special “Barbie: Epic Road Trip”.
Mattel Television's vice president of content, Christopher Keenan, spoke about the benefits of the project in a statement.
“We will give users the ability to choose different versions of Barbie in a new and improved way, by Mattel Televisions, to deepen the experience for global audiences watching Barbie content. Parents and children will be able to participate in the creation of a multitude of adventures and will be able to make decisions for the characters. This new storytelling format is filled with endless possibilities. »
This is how in “Epic Road Trip”, viewers will be able to use more than 100 decisions and 500 possibilities to shape the story. Likewise, the premise follows Barbies Malibu, Brooklyn, and Skipper, who, along with Ken, will drive around the United States to find homes for abandoned puppies. Similarly, a potentially transformative opportunity awaits them in New York.
Although not available for Venezuela, the service also offers the movies "It Takes Two" and "Mermaid Power."
Of course, it is worth mentioning that currently, Netflix has “Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse” anime series available in our country, containing 12 chapters.
Mattel Televisions chief executive Fred Soulie said in a statement shared by media that they have corporate intentions for the doll to interact with its audience "like never before".
