Although the industry is more aware of the acquisition of major studios and even publishers, Netflix continues its expansion plan in the video game industry with the acquisition of independent studios. If a few months ago it was Night School Studio, the creators of Oxenfree, and more recently Next Games, this time the chosen studio is Boss Fight Entertainment for an undisclosed amount.
Today we are thrilled to announce that Boss Fight Entertainment is joining Netflix! https://t.co/6CWZWDNGqe— Boss Fight (@BossFightEnt) March 24, 2022
Boss Fight is headquartered in Texas – although they have three studios, in Allen, Austin and Seattle – and was founded in 2013 with former members of Zynga Dallas and Ensemble Studios. They are mainly known for the strategy RPG Dungeon Boss and the intention, logically, is to strengthen the Netflix Games service to give a larger catalog to subscribers of its video platform in diffusiona market in which they have slowed their growth.
"Boss Fight's mission is to deliver simple, beautiful, and fun gaming experiences to all players wherever they want to play," the studio said. “Netflix is committed to offer ad-free games to subscribed members and gives us the opportunity to create a delicious gameplay without worrying about monetization. We couldn't be more excited to join Netflix and continue doing what we love while shaping the future of gaming on Netflix. »
Catalog search for the “best” service
“We have to differentiate ourselves through awesomeness, it doesn't make sense to just be here,” the Netflix CEO explained: “We are definitely growing and we're not here to be. Corn we must please our subscribers with the best in the industry"
Netflix is very happy with how its subscription gaming service works on mobile devices, although it also assures that this year it will expand its services with casual games and other more traditional genres with the aim of offering a wide variety to discover what type of experiences are best received by your subscribers. This would give Netflix an advantage and added value over its competitors, such as Disney+ or HBO Max.
