At 26 years, Lucie Diez (Madrid, 1996) we have seen in titles like El Cid, The Other Look, The Cathedral of the Sea, Velvet Collection Yes Medical Center. Your face may be familiar to you, but it is difficult for you to recognize it in The longest night, since for his role in the new Spanish series of Netflix he had to shave his hair. She plays Nuria, a sociopath locked in the neuropsychiatric prison in which this Thriller in French.
Nuria, due to her instability, wouldn't be an easy character.
No, because it's a whole world to get into a character's head, into what he feels. But we were very protected and we had a team of psychiatrists who were the bomb. They gave us a lot of information to adapt the character that the creators wanted to tell to the reality of a sociopathy.
What did you learn from a character as different as this one?
Many things. How to stop, reflect, analyze… I'm super analytical, but I go very fast in everything, my head goes to a thousand. Nuria is calmer, she analyzes at a different pace. It was very interesting to change this internal dynamic.
Nuria is quieter, but you never know where it will go.
You can go anywhere. It's impulsive, and it's also cool to work on it, because it allows you to play with a more theatrical thing, to study the sequence and to go on set and shoot with what your colleagues give you.
Through the character, did you learn about mental health issues?
Yeah, doing a character like that brings you a lot closer to being aware of all mental health issues. You understand where they can come from, the symptoms and how difficult it is to control. It would be nice if you knew a bit more about this world, because then you would see it with different eyes and you would realize how difficult it is for these people to suffer from this type of condition.
The series has a few female characters, but don't you think it releases too much testosterone?
Yeah, because the whole abduction plot is more common among male characters. But the key is that there are female characters who, despite being smaller, contribute a lot and are essential and powerful. Like the one directed by Laia Manzanares, an overpowered girl in the middle of the whole family of attackers, or those of Sabela Arán and Cecilia Freire.
To play Nuria, she had to shave her hair. Did it cost you?
They told me before I made the last foundry and I didn't think too much about it because I really wanted to participate in this project. Altogether the hair grows and is a see which is also cool. Everyone dreams of shaving their hair.
Besides being an actor, he studied law and politics.
I finished college just as I was in Baruca, the prison in which this series takes place.
"I didn't think too much about shaving my hair"
Young people are often accused of not being interested in politics and you have opted for this career instead.
Well, I studied it a bit for that. I wanted to see where the policy came from to understand it and see why it is necessary and have a criterion. The theater is very emotional and it was also good for me to have other types of knowledge that had nothing to do with it, more theoretical things to put my feet on the ground a little.
You have a special relationship with Great Britain, because you discovered that you wanted to be an actress in this country.
Yes, my love for the theater was awakened there. I have a very passionate thing with Britain. My dream would be to do theater in London. What happens to me is that after being there I need to spend time without going back, I have a kind of love-hate relationship with England. The weather affects me, I don't quite find the purpose of its gastronomy, but I have an absolute love for its culture and its people.
He also studied there.
Yes, in boarding school, when I was 12 and then when I was 16. My parents travel a lot as they work in aviation and they sent me and my sister to study English and learn to live a bit on our own and relate to another culture. It was magnificent, quite an adventure.

How was that upbringing in a British boarding school?
We were in the middle of the countryside learning theatre, cooking, horse riding, we had badminton lessons… It is another educational system in which importance is given to very different things from those of 'here. But I loved it.
