The singer released her third album last August and has since taken it on North American, UK and European tours, stopping at Glastonbury and beyond. On the first anniversary of the album's announcement in June, she thanked fans for their support and called the album's reviews "disconcerting and sometimes painful".
To mark the one-year anniversary of the album's release, Lorde released a new video for their closing track, "Oceanic Feeling," and updated them on their moves since wrapping up the "Solar Power" tour.
"I've been writing to you since late summer," his message began. “I can't believe it's almost gone. Normally, during these months, my whole life is lived with respect to the season. I wake up and time decides what I'm going to do. I spend long days outside. Swims come first, and everything else on my schedule revolves around them. This year summer was like a movie in the background.
She continued, "I've been working pretty much since the tour ended, spending long days in a dark room, my brain buzzing like a fluorescent tube, my eyes watering as I step back into the light. »

The comments come after Lorde said in June that she was "getting closer" to writing "bangers" again.
'Solar Power' saw the artist move away from the utter euphoria of 2017's 'Melodrama' to create something more introspective and delicate. Speaking on the third and final night of her residency at London's Roundhouse in early June, Lorde revealed she had been "thinking about firecrackers".
“It's so interesting for me to see how writing a great, brilliant pop song was the thing that defined my life. This thing that I started trying to do when I was 14 because I would turn on the radio and I liked that feeling, what it did to me. It became like an addiction, I just wanted to keep trying to build the perfect thing that would hit you right in your heart emotionally, in three and a half minutes,” she explained.
NME gave Lorde's "Solar Power" five stars in a review last year, calling it "a dazzling hat trick from a master of his craft."
"It's an album that grows in quiet stature with each listen, new nuggets of wisdom making their way to the surface, peeking through its beautiful instrumentation that weaves a superb leafy tapestry," the reviewer said. .
