Nobody knows how to welcome the arrival of spring like India, because the annual Holi festival is a celebration of laughter, fun and LOTS of color!
To capture all the true glory that Holi has to offer, Apple has been tasked with putting its iPhones to work, and the results have been nothing short of stunning.
What is the Holi Festival?
Also known as the 'Festival of Colours', Holi is celebrated across India and is usually held in March. According to the American Hindu Foundation:
“Holi is a Hindu festival celebrating the beginning of spring, which is the season of hope and new beginnings. Holi is celebrated worldwide and is recognized as a national holiday in India. The earliest recorded celebrations date back to the fourth century CE in ancient India.
Although Holi originated in ancient India, today it is celebrated by people of all backgrounds and beliefs across the world.
Shot on iPhone
Continuing its well-known marketing hook of filming all of its iPhone promotions and campaigns, Apple knocked itself out of the park with its coverage of Holi earlier this month.
“Ordered by Apple to celebrate Holi. In some parts of India, this festival of colors is celebrated with flowers. Phoolon Wali Holi, or Flower Holi, is played by throwing petals with friends, family, even strangers, as India welcomes the arrival of spring,” read a description on Apple's Instagram feed while showing a beautiful collage of people surrounded by flowers and colors.
A man named Ashish S. reportedly wrote, “These celebrations always create warmth and intimacy, a sense of closeness. Phoolon Wali Holi allowed me to explore moments of deep connection in an honest and candid way.

Showcasing the rich video capabilities of Apple iPhone, a game of Flower Holi is the focus of another Instagram post.
“Phoolon Wali Holi, or Flower Holi, is played by throwing flowers with friends, family, even strangers as winter gives way to spring,” Apple explains.
Ashish, who is apparently Apple's resident Holi expert, once again shared, "Nature provides the most striking colors. Thanks to Flower Holi, I could see the celebration unfold in vibrant hues that reflect the joy and happiness of the festival.
Fans and followers of Apple's Instagram account also shared their delight at the beauty of Holi, with many praising the tech company for sharing the carefree snaps.
“Woah, what an absolutely vibrant and breathtaking shoot. Must have been so much fun to really put the iPhone to work with these hues,” one user commented.
“Apple always wins my heart,” another person proclaimed.
Perhaps even more amazing… no one at the Holi festival needed to borrow a charger!
