– Reviews News
Apple continues to be inspired byAndroid to add new features to iOS. The App Library in iOS is one such recent addition. Brings the possibility to add widgets on the home screen. Users keep waiting for an easy way to hide photos and videos on iPhone.
If you have sensitive images and videos on your iPhone, you will have to find ways to hide them. The Photos app on iOS offers the native option to hide photos and videos. But they are visible in a folder called Hidden and anyone can open it.
There are several ways to hide photos and videos on iPhone. Although there are workarounds, we have to wait for Apple to provide a native option to password protect your media.
Hide media using the Photos app
The default gallery on a iPhone is the Photos app. The Photos app displays all images and videos, including downloaded images, media files received through messaging services like WhatsApp, screenshots, screen recordings, and more.
Therefore, hiding your media in the Photos app itself is the most convenient method. This is how you can do it.
Step 1: Open the “Photos” app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap the album containing the photos and videos you want to hide.
Step 3: Now tap on the “Select” button in the upper right corner of the screen. Select all the photos and videos you want to hide.
4nd step : After selecting the files, tap the “Share” icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
5nd step : Scroll down until you find the "Hide" option and select it.
Step 6: You will now see a message asking if you want to hide the media. Select "Hide Photos". The Photos app will hide all those files.
The biggest caveat is that when you scroll down the Photos app, you'll see an option labeled "Hidden" under "Utilities." Tap it to reveal any photos you've previously hidden. It defeats the purpose of hiding photos and videos.
Fortunately, there is an easy solution to hide the "Hidden" folder.
How to Hide the 'Hidden' Folder in the Photos App
Step 1: Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone. Scroll down and tap on the “Photos” option.
Step 2: Tap the switch next to "Hidden Album" to turn it off. This will prevent the "Hidden" folder from appearing in the Photos app.
Now, your hidden photos and videos can no longer be accessed directly from the Photos app. When you want to access the hidden media, go back to the “Settings” app, go to “Photos” and turn on the “Hidden Album” switch. You will again see the “Hidden” folder in the Photos app. Remember to turn it off once more after viewing the media.
Hide Media Using Google Drive App
If you think it's too easy for someone else to access your hidden media through this method, there is another solution you can use through a third-party app. The application we use is Google Drive. Although there are several third-party apps to hide photos and videos, most of them show ads. This is how you can hide photos and videos on your iPhone more securely using a password or Face ID.
Step 1: If you don't already have it, install the Google Drive app on your iPhone through the App Store.
Step 2: Log in with your Google account in the app. Tip: You can create a new account where you only want to store your sensitive photos and videos.
Step 3: Once you are logged in with your account, tap the "More" icon in the lower right corner and select "Download".
4nd step : Next, choose the “Photos and Videos” option.
You will now see a list of all your albums. Select the corresponding album and upload all the photos and videos you want to hide.
5nd step : After downloading the media, you can choose to save it offline for situations where you don't have internet access. You can long-press any of the files to select it and tap the “Select All” icon at the top. Or manually select each file and tap the three dots in the upper right corner and select "Make available offline".
Step 6: Now comes the main part. To hide photos and videos and prevent others from accessing the Google Drive app, tap the hamburger menu in the top left corner and go to "Settings".
7nd step : Select “Privacy Screen” and enable it. You're ready!
The Google Drive app is now locked with your biometrics and will search for Face ID each time you open it.
This will hide and protect your photos and videos. Remember to delete unwanted media files from the Photos app on your iPhone.
Hide and protect your photos and videos
You can protect sensitive media files such as documents, ID cards, etc. using this process, that too without downloading an app from an unrecognized developer and risking your data. It's simple, and you can choose whether you want to use the default Photos app with a little less security, or want an extra layer of protection with Face ID.
You can also use Google Drive to securely store other files and folders on your iPhone in addition to photos and videos.
