Surpasses Stranger Things as the most-watched series on Netflix
A week after its debut, the series 'Wednesday' managed to be crowned the best premiere on Netflix in 2022.
According to data from the company Streaming, the series based on the adventures of the daughter of Morticia and Homer Adams has surpassed the number of hours watched for 'Stranger Things 4' by reaching 341,2 million hours against the 335 million that the sci-fi series in the middle of the year.
Despite the success of the series, as it was even the most watched in 83 countries (also tied with what was done by the fourth installment of Stranger Things), it remained well below the records set by 'The Squid Game', the South Korean series that remains Netflix's biggest hit, racking up 571,7 million hours of views in its opening week.
At the moment it is not known whether Wednesday will have a second season, but the figures show a favorable scenario for the renewal and continuation of the series, which consists of 8 chapters.
Wednesday is directed by Tim Burton and stars young Mexican-born actress Jenna Ortega. Rounding out the cast are Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, and Naomi J Ogawa, among others.
