Google I/O is only a few weeks away
Android fans have been dreaming about the idea of a Google-made Pixel Watch for years, and while many of the rumors have died down, this year it seems more and more likely that it will actually happen – could it? Are we actually about to encounter the best Android smartwatch to date? Recent evidence has certainly suggested that carriers may be bracing for the imminent arrival of the laptop, and now Evan Blass' latest leak throws some extra fuel on that fire.
Blass doesn't give us much to do here, sharing a tweet that references the Pixel Rohan codename and includes a screenshot of some sort of training system that mentions the watch running Wear OS 3.1.
ANDROIDPOLICE VIDEO OF THE DAY
Rohan is a name we've been hearing for a while now, most recently appearing in this carrier database last month that made us think the Pixel Watch launch might be just around the corner. While Blass doesn't provide anything concrete to help narrow this down, he does add support for the idea that we might see the material soon.
There's at least one eyebrow-raising detail in this leak, and that's the presence of Wear OS 3.1 – as 9to5Google notes, we'd probably expect to see 3.2 there, so it's possible the source of this leak is relies on some extent on older and potentially outdated information. Whether or not we should draw any broader conclusions from this is currently unclear, and it really might not be concerning at all.
Google I/O 2022 is just over three weeks away. If the stars finally align, and this is the year the Pixel Watch makes its long-awaited debut, it would certainly be a fantastic platform to launch this new hardware. We'll keep an eye out for additional leaks as we get closer to May.
