A longtime friend of the late Queen Elizabeth II described the series La Couronne as a "complete fantasy" that is "very unfair to members of the royal family".

“It just makes me very angry” the series, he says Lady Glenconnerwho was a bridesmaid at the Queen's coronation in 1953.

BBC Lady Glenconner has said she told Helena Bonham Carter she was disappointed with her portrayal of Princess Margaret.
“It was completely wrong,” he said. “And I think saying something like that about people hurts terribly. Nobody wants their relationships to be torn apart like this,” he said.
The third season showed Princess Margaret flirting with US President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965. "Of course she never did that," he said.
Lady Glenconner herself is pictured in La Couronne, and another scene in the third season shows her discussing the merits of various men with Princess Margaret. "Of course, that never happened," he said.

Helena Bonham Carter, who played Daisy in seasons three and four, visited Lady Glenconner for advice.
“She came for about two hours. I told her how Princess Margaret smoked, how she walked,” Lady Glenconner said.
“I saw Helena after being in La Couronne and he said, 'What do you think?' And I was like, 'Well, pretty disappointed.' And she said, 'I know. But the thing is, I'm an actress and I have to do what's written for me.' »
Lesley Manville reprized the role of Daisy in the fifth season, which launched earlier this month.
