" Till we Meet Again "the first Peruvian production for Netflix, entered the platform's global catalog on March 18, and its premiere has been steadily generating comments. Memes due to the ignorance of its protagonist, Stephanie Cayoof some national jargonsto critics on the quality of the film written and directed by Bruno Ascenzo. And while the discussion around the tape does not stop, it positions itself among the services of Streaming the most watched internationally.
In its first week online, "Until We Meet Again" achieved more than 12 million hours of views and ranked in the Top 10 in 44 countries on 4 continents (Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa). From its second week, it accumulated 13 hours of reproductions, and entered the Top 850 of 000 nations, a significant feat for a national production which, commercially, had never had such a reach outside our borders.
That is why in Skip Intro we ask for the collaboration of some journalists of entertainment and culture from Latin American countries to find out how a Peruvian production with international distribution, with all the subtleties of the Peruvian identity, can be received (and included) outside of our country. .
It should be noted that, "Until we meet again" being a commercial film and not an author's film, we ask journalists, who are not dedicated to film criticism, but to the reporting of cultural events and entertainment, to approach his texts from the impressions generated by history and development as foreign spectators. Here are their comments:

Impressive landscapes and the best demonstration of the vast and interesting Peruvian culture (Andean and Afro-Peruvian with its music and traditions) – at least for a foreigner – are what stands out the most from the film “Until we see again”. With a predictable yet entertaining storyline, the film shows landscapes that are the best way to sell Cusco to tourists, showcasing the beauty and traditions of the Inca culture. However, the first Netflix original film made in Peru owes itself in several respects: screenplay and performances (especially the star couple which is not entirely convincing, best mark for the character played by Wendy Ramos).
Beyond its aspects to improve, the important thing in this film is to see how platforms like Netflix are beginning to invest in the cinematography of Latin American countries, highlighting their histories and cultures. Peru has a lot to say and show the world through the seventh art, even if it has not been. The plus: the direction of photography and art that stand out in the film. The worst: his screenplay. "Until We Meet Again" shows the best face of Peru, but not of its cinema.

Its magnificent landscapes and complex culture make Peru a wonderful country. Some of this is clearly depicted in "Until We Meet Again," although a movie is more than a tourist infomercial, it's cinema. If we can understand that it is a romantic comedy, that does not exempt it from one of the requirements of art, which is to strive for a quality product, that is where, at In some ways, this movie falls short. In the story, flaws and some technical inconsistencies are evident which ultimately contaminate the final result.

One of the main points for a romance or romantic comedy to be successful is that it must have perfect chemistry between the lead couple in the production. In "Until We Meet" he is seen on screen with the couple of Maxi Iglesias (Salvador) and Stephanie Cayo (Ariana), who work well together as opposite personalities, but who have more in common. you imagine. It's also great to see that a Latin American production has the technical and production quality of this film, but even to be economically viable, this type of production must have a universal story, which can be broadcast anywhere. or. Therefore, if the beautiful Peruvian landscapes of Cusco and Machu Picchu become a backdrop for disagreements between Salvador and Ariana, we could have a little more Peruvian culture and other highlights, like gastronomy, for example. The film shows us Peru in a way very similar to a “city tour” or a tour group. But this usually happens in all productions of this type, for example, we do not have a samba school in Rio de Janeiro every day on the streets.

If you're expecting "Until We Meet Again" to be a life-changing movie, you're looking in the wrong place. Cinema must be seen and judged by the genre to which it belongs, so you will be less disappointed. In my case, I found elements of surprise that make this film of Latin girl films enjoyable: it is well done, with successful landscape photos that greatly embellish it. For any foreigner, with little knowledge about Peru, this will catch their attention.
But if there are positive elements, there is also one to improve: the scenario. The plot arc is fairly flat and the gang conflict is never clear. What prevents Ariana and Salvador from being together: the ethical and moral question of building a large hotel complex on a heritage site or the fact that the protagonist does not wish to put down roots? It is never explained. In short, in a 'chick flick' the rules of love and that's what they gave us. The dialogues are very frequent, predictable and even boring, but these good kisses, so as not to feel lonely on a Sunday afternoon, it works. Watch "Until We Met" if you want to see something cute and not too thoughtful. But forget the part of Sabina's song ("Contigo") that the lovers sing. It was useless.

The first Peruvian film for Netflix has achieved something very remarkable: showing the wonders of Peru through a modern story that connects to new audiences, without losing the magic of its culture and landscapes. "Until We Meet Again" is a typical love story that captivates not only because of the problems of its characters, but because of every detail that gives its protagonists a unique experience, almost taken from a fairy tale, in scenarios such as the marvelous Machu Picchu.
It is appreciated that Latin America captivates Netflix to generate productions that show the traditions of other countries, those that are often remote for consumers in other parts of the world. Latin America exists, and it's as wonderful as the places that have major international productions, you just have to know how to create the stories. I am sure that the work carried out in Peru will allow other countries in the region to show their culture, but through close stories that will identify who consumes them.
