One of the main attractions of this year's International Yoga Day will be the Guardian Ring – a yoga streaming event – which will capture and weave the digital stream of programs hosted by Indian missions abroad.
As expected, the Streaming on social media will begin from Japan at 6 a.m. local time. Then, programs from overseas missions will be relayed according to their time zones and culminate with New Zealand, an official said.
According to a source, every Indian mission will hold yoga activities on June 21.
Based on the general pattern of observance of International Yoga Day in previous years, these activities could include short functions, speeches, yoga demonstrations based on common yoga protocol, and videos of local celebrities, among others, the official source said.
The Guardian Ring program will chain video streams of 20-30 selected missions across different time zones into one continuous social media event lasting approximately 18-20 hours.
The Ayush Ministry has requested the agreement of the MEA on the missions that will participate in the program.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the mass yoga demonstration event in Mysuru on June 21 on International Yoga Day. The program is taking place in physical mode after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
