In recent months, you have participated in the short films kill the motherby Omar Ayuso, and Uselessde Rachel Warrior. We see that you have friendships with many actors of your age, also with Paco León… Omar told us not so long ago that it was very important for him to have a group of collaborators with whom to launch intimate projects beyond his more high-profile acting jobs. Is it like that for you too?
Sure. Above all, I like that it's their ideas, very personal stories. I like to tell stories, that's why I'm an actor, and even more when you can understand them at another level of sensitivity. For example, I got along very well with Omar before he had an idea for a short film. Then he offered it to me, we did little readings at his house, he told me the story, and I knew he wanted to do it. Not just thinking about the acting problem, but personal. Omar is a wonderful storyteller. I like people who realize their projects, who tell good stories and create art.
Omar's short film, in addition, also talks about motherhood. You have it there as a great theme.
Yes, I think sometimes big projects choose you. This is the great theme of my life, I would say, my great conflict.
Why do you think this is so?
It's something personal, it means a lot to me.
Seeing the experience of Omar Ayuso, and that in addition The Holy Family it's full of movie references because your character wants to be a director, would you like to direct something?
I would love to, but I have a lot of respect for him, and I still have a lot to learn. I have two stories I would like to tell, one written about two years ago, and it also has to do with motherhood. But now is not the time. I have other things to learn as an actor and as a person, and when I see myself with this maturity, I will launch.
How was your acting debut? Did anyone in your family move in these circles or was it totally casual?
It was completely random. I lived in Murcia, and when I moved with my mother to Madrid, because she is from here, she was in high school and had repeated several times. It was that moment when you don't know what to do with your life, and I liked dancing, but I didn't really know how to approach it, or how to find my place in this capitalist system. And my best friend's mother happens to be a teacher at ESAD in Murcia, and we have a lot of trust because I almost grew up with her, and she took care of me during a period when my mother was working . She thinks I have a lot of sensitivity and a lot of imagination, and she took us to the theater a lot, and she recommended that I try acting school. He told me that even if it wasn't to dedicate myself to it, it could help me to open my mind, to know another world... So, having just turned 18 and not knowing what to do with my life, I have in the Juan Codina studio in Madrid, and I fell in love. Directly. I signed up for the three-year course, when I was two, I got a movie, and so one thing led me to another.
So you didn't experience that important moment of coming to Madrid alone, something that marked many players. You did it with your mother.
Basically, I came to Madrid because I had met someone from a distance. I had a girlfriend and she comes here for love. And finally I found my way elsewhere.
Something that I find very interesting is your relationship to fashion, because you are a fairly free reference. Do you take it as a game or is it something that interests you professionally?
I love fashion, but I wouldn't know how to define my relationship with it. I like to play with clothes and I'm not afraid. If I like something, I wear it, and I like it.
Do you have any favorite clothes or a favorite designer?
I really like accessories, especially the basics. Mix the basics to have a special touch. As designers, I really like Palomo.
You are one of the most committed Spanish actors in genderless fashion. We see that these lines which said that certain clothes are for men and others for women have faded, and men are much more interested in make-up… Have you always liked to experiment in this direction? How does it feel to go shopping or go to a exhibition room with you?
It's true that I don't pay attention to whether something is for a man or for a woman. when I go to a exhibition roomThey always take me to the men's department. I went to Diesel the other day and asked them about women's business, and in the end I took some of it. I am often asked this question, but I don't know what to say. Maybe it's because I grew up with my mother, and on my father's side I have five sisters and I wore their clothes. Even as a child, I did not ask myself this question and I had no prejudice. I don't think about it too much. If something is cool to me, forward.
In an interview, you explained that, partly because of asexual fashion, they ask you a lot of questions about your sexual orientation. Do you feel very pressured by this?
The same thing happens with clothes. Looks like I need to label myself. That they ask me directly if I like men or women… It always destabilizes me.
