After all the franchises made their respective purchases at last month's mega auction in Bengaluru, now is the time to get down to business as IPL 2022 officially kicks off on March 26. The title holders Chennai Super Kings will lock the horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders the curtain raiser. After rebuilding their respective squads, both teams will be looking to start off on a winning note.
While a fresh-looking KKR will take the field with Indian mid-order specialist Shreyas Iyer in the lead, CSK have also named all-round star Ravindra Jadeja as their new captain. He took over the reins of the legendary skipper MS Dhoni who had successfully led the franchise for 12 seasons. Both teams would therefore be looking to make a statement from the start of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 10 participating teams will be divided into two groups each. The number of teams has increased to 10 with the introduction of two new franchises – Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans respectively.
