“Cinema, like the literature of Fernanda Melchor, presents us with a mirror of who and how we are; It is one of the strongest ways to weave our cultural history and discover the diversity of our country. For this reason and because we want Mexico to be seen, we have decided to bring Hurricane Season to the screen with Elisa Miller, and this year we are redoubling our commitment to Mexican cinema with a new film that, without a doubt, will open our minds. and at the heart of a reality of our country that we cannot avoid talking about,” said Francisco Ramos, vice president of content for Latin America at Netflix.
Hurricane Season was a finalist for the prestigious International Booker Prize 2020 and will now take a leap into audiovisual thanks to the talent of Miller who affirms through him that "our painfully contemporary Mexico" is portrayed.

“I am very honored to have Fernanda Melchor's vote of confidence to translate her wonderful book into a film. It is clear to me that the great difficulty of adaptations is that each reader imagines his own film, and this one is going to be ours, so I apologize in advance to all the readers who imagined it differently”, has commented Elisa Miller.
Nothing has yet been said about the dates and the characters, we will have to wait to find out what this production will bring.
