When Ginés García Millán (Murcia, 1964) frowns, with an intense look and the face of few friends, in addition to seducing more than one female, he composes in a second the villain to which he will give life. That throughout his career there have been many. But behind that phrase, there's a lot of previous work to figure out why the bad guys are. And it is that he claims to have a mastery in the matter. Brand newin the third and final season from the globally successful Mexican Netflix series Who killed Sara?, in which he gives life to one of them: César Lazcano, who will end up showing his vulnerability. The character earned him being ridden now orno fan club. Interesting badass fans by autonomy and the person behind, who has nothing to do with it.
Did you expect this success? The series has been seen in 55 million homes around the world!
Which is said soon (laughs). When we started, we thought it was a good product. We were doing a very compelling, well-shot story, but what happened next, no one expected. It took us by surprise. It reached many places around the world, we entertained, we had fun, that's what it's all about. For this we are.
Álex comes with the desire to take revenge on César Lazcano and his family. How will we see Caesar?
More vulnerable. He will pay for all his bad deeds. He is a lonely man, because he has done everything to make it so. But the character development is very interesting. In this season there is more emotion, we see it more fragile. We're going to see something that we haven't seen in this character. Even if we could have guessed it. He just wasn't a bad guy. There's something lurking in the background, which is what makes villains interesting.
Now more than ever you need to protect yours.
It's that there can always be someone who is worse than you (laughs).
This series gave him a fan club in his XNUMXs.
And see if I've been doing television for years. But I feel very lucky because television has made me a popular character and people recognize you. Although, of course, when you do a series with Nettlix and it is seen in almost 90 countries, and it has had so many views, it multiplies. But you have to live it in a fun way and give it the importance it has. And have fun, because it's good that people are interested in your work. Also, I think it's something very good, to be in your language and seen in so many places. Although it has been dollarized. I think it was the first Latin American series dubbed into eight languages. It's a gift.
And which of these languages did it shock you the most to see yourself in?
The thing is, there are wonderful voice actors out there. But maybe with languages further away from you, like Hindi, Turkish or German. Depending on the language, the character has different shades. That's very cool.
He says there are all kinds of bad guys. Did you do them all?
(Laughs) I hope there will be many more. I talked about it with Jean Reno, with whom I had a lot of fun, even if we didn't do many scenes with him. I wish we had more. I would do one more season just to meet Jean. Like all real greats, he is a very simple and humble guy. And we talked about these very evil characters that we really like because the secret is to have fun. And, of course, if you're the bad guy, be the baddest. As an actor, I have a few masters in evil. But they always have something. If the public approaches them, it's because they have something. Don't tell me how I'm doing, because I don't know, but you always have to look for something in yourself.
And how the actors love them.
Yes, because they are characters who may not be politically correct. And surely sometimes you think: I would do that, but I dare not. It is a liberation. This is also what fiction is for. As long as it's with distance and with a sense of humor. An evil character with a good story gives you insight into knowing human beings, what we are, how barbaric we can be, how cruel we are. There are also very good things that we can be, but evil is typical of human beings and of life. And we see it every day, with the news.
It's not the first time he's worked in Mexico..
No. The first time was about thirty years ago, with one of those TVE series filmed for a long time and in the cinema. And we spent almost two years flying from Mexico to Chile. It was an experience. I was 24 or 25 years old and I said to myself: this is the most wonderful job in the world. And then, life brought me to this country that I adore – with all its contradictions and everything we know –, which treated me very well, I was able to work in my language and I met some great performers. I'm grateful, so I'll go as soon as I can.
The lockdown caught him there recording….
Yes, but what happens is practical. We were shooting the first season and we had to go back. And at that time we were able to think about the series and when we were about to return, they had already planned the second, because during the tests the series was very popular. It was good because a very interesting product was put in place. With whom, beyond the difficulty, a very tight-knit team was formed, very interesting. And life has given us this whole series which is in the top 10 of countries as disparate as Israel and Brazil.
He doesn't bring the characters home, but while filming 'The Diner', he confessed that more than ever he needed to disconnect.
I loved the novel. There is a great need to say the pain that a family goes through when death is present, and the silence, because not knowing what happened is a barrier. This need to know, to want to know and to live with it all my life seems very hard to me. In its apparent simplicity, the novel has a very interesting, very complex depth. These are the characters that make you grow.
Now 'The Gypsy Bride' awaits, another powerful story.
A lot. Fingers crossed, but I think there will be a new season. And the character of the commissioner will be further developed.
In addition, he tours with Jaime Chávarri.
Yes, in Galicia. Years ago, I shot “The Year of the Flood” with Chávarri. He called me and said, “Should I send you the script? And I said, "If you want to send it to me, send it to me." But I want to be with you”. I love riding again is wonderful news. I love her so much. He is one of the great directors of this country and I am very happy to be here. In this case, it is a rather acidic novel by Fernando Aramburu. He toned down that roughness and with his bitter residue he made a very funny comedy.
If it was shot in Galicia, I thought it would be a “thriller” or something about drug trafficking.
We come to lighten up a bit (laughs).

Are you comfortable in comedy?
The comedy is wonderful. And anyone who knows me knows I'm one hell of a clown. I like to do it in the best way and with a sense of humor, even if I do a big tragedy.
