Microsoft's 'flight' to Cologne for Gamescom 2022 brings great news for Flight Simulator fans: the Asobo and Xbox Game Studios Publishing blockbuster is about to get loads of new content, even on Game Pass.
The first and perhaps the most important news from the Cologne event is related to the announcement of the release date of Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary, scheduled for the11th November on PC and Xbox Series X/S like free update for those who own the game and for those who use it on Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The new version of Microsoft Flight Simulator will include seven historic aircraft: the 1903 Wright Flyer, the 4 Curtiss JN-1915 Jenny, the 1927 Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis, the 3 Douglas DC-1935, the Grumman G- 21 Goose from 1937, the Havilland DHC-2 Beaver from 1947 and the famous Hughes H-4 Hercules from 1947 (that's right, Howard Hughes' giant seaplane immortalized in the movie The Aviator starring Leonardo DiCaprio). The free expansion will also include four historic airports such as Meigs Field in Chicago, as well as 10 glider airports and 14 helipads with, of course, the ability to fly gliders and helicopters. But that's not all.
The celebrations of the fortieth anniversary of the IP, in fact, already begin today, August 25, with the launch of the City Update 01a free expansion that reconstructs in photogrammetry the German metropolises of Hannover, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Bonn and, of course, Cologne.
