Broadcast on:
For "Emily in Paris" it's far from over goodbye! Just 19 days after the start of the second season of the feel-good comedy, Netflix has given the green light for seasons 3 and 4. But how could things continue after the dramatic cliffhanger? When can we expect the new episodes? And what ideas has showrunner Darren Star (“Sex and the City”) already expressed?
Netflix renews “Emily in Paris” for seasons 3 and 4
As early as August 2021, lead actress Lily Collins (“Love, Rosie – Forever Maybe”) indicated in an Instagram post that the series had not been filmed in the French capital for the last time – and she was right: although season 2 was not released until on Netflix on December 22, 2021, the giant of Streaming announced via Instagram in January 2022 that "Emily in Paris" will be available to the public for two more seasons.
However, the decision shouldn't have been difficult for Netflix. With 58 million streams in the first month, the first season has already become the world's most successful comedy series of 2020 on Netflix (via Cosmopolitan). As Hollywood Reporter reported, the second season was even more successful: in the first five days after the season debut, “Emily in Paris” aired 107,6 million hours worldwide, leading the Netflix top 10 in 94 countries.
Of course, fans should be especially thrilled that the series has been extended not only by season 3, but also by season 4 thanks to its enormous success:
When does season 3 of Emily in Paris start on Netflix?
Although there is an official green light for “Emily in Paris” Season 3, Netflix has yet to announce when we can expect the new episodes. As a result, one can currently only speculate on a possible start date. The first season started on October 2, 2020, season 2 followed a good 14 months later, precisely on December 22, 2021. Netflix is thus moving towards the usual annual rhythm. If held up, we may have new consequences between December 2022 and February 2023 expect.

Casting of Emily in Paris: who would be in season 3?
In an interview with Glamour, Lily Collins pointed out even before the start of season 2 that she would certainly be there for a third season. We can therefore certainly count on the main actress of seasons 3 and 4 of the rom-com series. At his side is always the friend Mindy, interpreted by Ashley Park ("Tales of the City"). As Emily's emotional mayhem reaches new heights in the Season 2 finale, Lucas Bravo ("Caprice") as Gabriel and Camille Razat ("15:17 PM to Paris") as Camille will also return to the tray. Deadline also announced that Season 2 crush Emily will be a permanent cast member. As a result, we see Lucien Laviscount ("The Bye Bye Man") again as Alfie in Season 3.
In front of! News, the actor expressed interest in reuniting Alfie and Emily for Season 3 in December:
“I think Emily needs someone who can pull her out of her hard work bubble. I think Alfie gives her the opportunity to just be free and open and discover herself without having to worry about other people. She can just be herself with Alfie.
In an interview with PureWow, actress Kate Walsh, who plays Emily's boss, Madeline, also revealed that we shouldn't miss her in Season 3. She traveled to Paris to film. Does this possibly indicate an early plot? At least she said:
“I can tell you [Staffel 3] will be very good, spicy, funny and unpredictable. I think fans will be really thrilled and entertained by what they see. And the stories are even more fabulous, romantic, glamorous and fun than before and set in amazing places.
Will there be a crossover with a 'Sex and the City' star?
As Screen Rant reports, fans are also suspecting an appearance by "Sex and the City" star Kim Cattrall as Samantha Jones. This is not seen in the series sequel "And Just Like That", but moved to London according to the plot. And that's where some viewers see the potential for a crossover, as Emily's current flame, Alfie, calls her home. Whether Darren Star as creator of “Sex and the City” and “Emily in Paris” will fulfill fans' wishes remains to be seen. At the moment, however, this is just speculation.
How could season 3 of Emily in Paris continue?
– Warning: Spoilers for “Emily in Paris” Season 2 follow –
After the cliffhanger at the end of the second season, we can assume that season 3 of “Emily in Paris” will pick up where the last seconds of season 2 left us: Emily calls Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) for him tell the final communicate the decision. It remains to be seen whether she will accept the offer or return to Chicago to work for Madeline again. Since Madeline actress Kate Walsh says she filmed her role in Paris, she could possibly fight for Emily and travel from the United States specifically for it.

Plus, there's still a lot to be clarified after the great emotional chaos of Season 2. Will Emily stick to her long-distance relationship with Alfie despite her secret feelings for Gabriel? Emily didn't seem to be taking her return with Camille too well, suggesting a knee-jerk reaction. So does the young woman really turn her back on Paris before starting to fight for true love? Or does Emily realize in Season 3 that she still has the best laughs with Alfie? This will probably remain hidden from us until the start of season 3 of “Emily in Paris”…
Showrunner Darren Star comments on season 3
Showrunner Darren Star is also confident that a third season would pick up exactly where Emily has to make what is probably the most difficult decision of her life. He revealed to TVLine:
“You have an important decision to make. She has reasons to choose from a number of doors at the end of Season 2, and our challenge is to decide which of those doors she chooses and why. This is what season 3 will be about. When you live in a foreign country, one of the questions is: where is your heart? Is this where you come from or where you are now? Emily won't take this decision lightly either. »
Let's just hope Netflix doesn't leave fans alone for too long with this cliffhanger.
