The days of flipping through TV and knowing without thinking which channels were showing NFL games are a distant memory.
Today it might seem like you need a map, a guide, a timeline, and a sherpa to guide you to the game you want on whatever platform you have or to which you have to pay. Additionally, you also need Amazon Prime Video and ESPN+ subscriptions if you want access to all the games.
While this is a headache for some, and comes with monthly subscription fees, it's also a positive in the sense that the proliferation of options and platforms means more access easy for many. At least in theory.
Below is a guide to where to watch NFL regular season and playoff games on the days they're played this season.
NFL+, the service of Streaming league renamed for live local and primetime regular season and playoff games via the Super Bowl on mobile (phones or tablets but not connected TVs), is not listed. This service also requires a subscription.
And not to complicate things for the less tech-savvy, but in addition to traditional cable TV/broadcast distribution and Streaming Paid standalone, live games can be streamed through NFL, Fox, NBC, CBS and ESPN digital properties on all devices. (for their respective games) by connecting with a participating TV provider. The good news is that if you're already paying your cable company for these channels, you don't need to pay any additional fees to access their digital platforms.
Additionally, games can be accessed through your pay-TV provider's apps and websites, including vMVPD services such as YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and Fubo TV.
Finally, NFL games are also available for Spanish-speaking fans on Fox Deportes, Telemundo Deportes, Universo, and ESPN Deportes. On radio, NFL games are played via Westwood One, SiriusXM and Entravision (Spanish).
Do you have all that? Me neither, but we're getting there. The season kicks off at 20:20 p.m. Thursday on NBC with the defending champion Los Angeles Rams hosting the Buffalo Bills. The full Week 1 TV schedule is below.
