Activision released a brand new Call of Duty: Warzone map at the end of 2021. Since then, most Warzone players have enjoyed exciting Battle Royale matches in the Caldera jungle. However, excessive lag has marred the new Warzone experience for some players in 2022.
Some players have reported that the game lags significantly in Warzone after Windows 11/10 updates or patches. This is nothing new, as such reports date back to 2020 (the year the game was released). These players have noticed significant frame rate drops in Warzone after the Windows update.
At worst, Warzone can be quite unplayable with persistent lag. The gameplay of the game becomes very jerky and unresponsive due to regular drops in FPS (Frames Per Second). You may be able to fix Warzone lagging after updates with the possible resolutions outlined below.
The different types of delay
Warzone game lag can occur due to low FPS or high network latency. With high latency (if not lag spikes), Warzone mostly lags due to internet connection issues. Such issues can lead to lost data packets when playing multiplayer games.
However, the game's FPS lag is a slightly different matter. This lag is caused by low (or dropped) frame rates. When the FPS rate is generally low or drops suddenly, Warzone gameplay becomes a stuttering issue. The resolutions below are generally intended to fix FPS lag in Call of Duty: Warzone.
