Is 'The Northman' worth streaming?
“The Northman” received critical acclaim. The film currently holds an "89% Certified Fresh" rating on review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, based on 317 reviews from critics.
As a fan of director Robert Eggers myself, I was very excited to see “The Northman” in theaters, and I wasn't disappointed. The film is visually stunning, with large sequences marked by sweeping shots of Viking longboats crossing huge waterways, and more intimate scenes carried by provocative performances. The production also highlights historical accuracy in every detail, including villages, clothing, ceremonies and weapons.
I highly recommend the film not only to fans of Eggers' work, but also to those who might be skeptical of the genre. Compared to “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse,” “The Northman” is a little more relatable to mainstream audiences thanks to its simple, familiar plot and thrilling action. Be careful though: this film is very graphic.
