iPhones offer dozens of accessibility options, designed to help users with visual, hearing and motor impairments. One of the easiest options offered by your phone is color inversion.
Here's how to enable inverted colors on your iPhone in two ways, and even set up a shortcut you can use to turn inverted mode on or off.
How to Invert Colors on Your iPhone
Inverting your screen will change each color to its exact opposite. So everything white will turn black, everything blue will turn orange, and vice versa. This may seem odd to some users, but it's great for users who are colorblind or have trouble reading on bright screens.
To turn it on:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone and scroll down to select Accessibility.
2. Select Text display and size.
3. Scroll down a bit and you will find two options: Smart Invert and Classic Invert.
- Smart reversal will only invert colors when an app is open – your home screen and lock screen will just see the colors a bit muted. It also doesn't affect photos or videos, whether they're saved on your phone or from an app, or from your camera.
- Reverse classic reverses whatever appears on your screen, no matter where it comes from. This includes videos and photos, as well as your camera.

4. Choose either option and it will take effect immediately.
Quick advice: Even with Classic Invert enabled, any photos, videos, or screenshots you take will return to their original colors when viewed on a screen other than your own.
How to set up an inverted color shortcut
If you don't need to invert colors all the time, you can use the Accessibility Shortcuts option to quickly turn the feature on and off. This allows you to turn on inverted colors by triple clicking the power button on the side of your iPhone.
1. Open the Settings app and select the Accessibility again.
2. Scroll to the bottom of this page and select Accessibility shortcut.
3. In the menu that opens, select Classic Invert or Smart Invert from the list.
You can also select both – if you do this, triple-clicking the power button will bring up a menu that lets you choose which one to activate.
If you choose more than one option, you can change the order in which they appear. William Antonelli/Insider
