☑️ How to Edit Pictures Using Photos App on Mac
– Reviews News
Apple's Photos app comes with several built-in features for Mac and iPhone. With basic image editing tools, you can edit portrait mode photos, change color temperature, white balance, and more.
Many third-party photo editing apps promise more features, but most of them are paid or come with a subscription. Meanwhile, the Photos app is good enough for basic editing needs on Mac and creates share-worthy images. Here's how to edit pictures using the Photos app on Mac.
Quick edit with automatic enhancement
The Photos app comes with an auto-enhance tool that automatically adjusts the color and contrast of your images to make them look more vibrant. If you're in a rush, you can use this tool to quickly enhance your images before you share them.
Step 1: Launch the Photos app and double-click the photo you want to edit.
Step 2: Click the Auto-Enhance button in the upper right corner. The button looks like a magic wand.
Step 3: Click the Auto-Enhance button to apply all changes. If you are not satisfied with the results, click the Auto-Enhance button again to undo your changes.

The Photos app will allow you to easily correct the orientation of a photo or crop part of it. Here's how.
Step 1: Double-click the photo you want to edit in the Photos app.
Step 2: Click the Rotate button in the upper right corner to rotate the image counterclockwise. Hold the keyboard option to rotate clockwise.
Step 3: To straighten, crop or flip images, first click the Edit button.
4nd step : Select the Crop tool at the top of the screen and click the Flip button in the right column to flip the image horizontally. To flip an image vertically, hold down the Option key on your keyboard and click the Flip button.
5nd step : Click and drag the Straighten tool to adjust the angle of the image.
Step 6: To crop an image, first click on the Appearance drop-down menu. You can choose whether you want to crop the image freely or with a defined aspect ratio. For example, choosing the Square aspect ratio is best for images you plan to share on Instagram.
7nd step : Once you have selected the aspect ratio, click and drag around the corners.
Step 8: Click the Done button when you are satisfied with the result.
Use filters to enhance your images
The Photos app comes with built-in filters that allow you to quickly improve your image. You can use filters to make colors richer, muted, and even use Mono or Black filters to give your images an artistic touch.
Step 1: Launch the Photos app and double-click on the image you want to edit.
Step 2: Click the Edit button.
Step 3: Select the Filters tab and you will see a list of filters. Click on the filters to apply them.
4nd step : When you are happy with the image, click Done to save your changes.
Adjust color and white balance, reduce noise, and more.
The Adjust panel of the editing panel gives you access to a selection of retouching tools that allow you to adjust lighting and exposure, reduce noise, sharpen, and more. Let's first see how you can access these tools:
Step 1: Launch the Photos app and double-click on the image you want to edit.
Step 2: Click the Edit button.
Step 3: Select the Adjust tab and you'll see all the tools you need.
4nd step : After making the adjustments, click the Done button to save your changes.
Adjust lighting and exposure
Adjusting an image's lighting and exposure will help you manage brightness, highlights, and shadows.
Step 1: Open the image in the Photos app on your Mac.
Step 2: In the right column, hover your mouse pointer over the Light tool and click Auto to automatically adjust lighting and exposure.
Step 3: To manually adjust the lighting in your photo, click the drop-down arrow next to the Light option and drag the slider.
4nd step : For even finer control, click the Options button. You will get individual tools to adjust brightness, exposure, highlights, shadows, etc.
Use color corrections
You can use the Color tool to adjust the colors of your images. You can make them more subdued or make them stand out.
Step 1: Open the image you want to adjust in the Photos app on Mac.
Step 2: In the right column, hover your mouse pointer over the Color option. Then click Auto to apply color corrections to the image.
Step 3: To manually adjust the colors, click the drop-down arrow in front of the Color option in the right column and drag the slider to the right to lighten or to the left to darken the colors.
4nd step : For finer control over color tone, click the Options button in the Color section. This will give you three additional options: Saturation, Vibration and Streaming.
Use the smudge tool to remove unwanted objects
To remove unwanted objects from images, you can use the Retouch tool. It's not perfect, but it can help you smooth out minor blemishes.
Step 1: Open the image you want to edit in the Photos app.
Step 2: Click on the smudge tool to display the options.
Step 3: Here, drag the slider to adjust your brush size.
4nd step : Click and drag over the part of the image you want to remove. For example, let's try to remove the extra blade of grass in the photo we're using.
This is what the image looks like with minor imperfections removed.
Reduce noise and make images sharper
If you took an image in a low light environment, it will tend to be grainy and the subject may not be clear. To lighten things up a bit, you can use the Reduce Noise and Shapes tools to remove noise and sharpen your photo.
Step 1: Open the image you want to edit in the Photos app.
Step 2: Hover over the Noise Reduction tool in the left column and click Automatic to let the app automatically reduce noise.
Step 3: Click the tool to display more options. Click and drag the slider to adjust the amount of processing you want.
Remember that pushing the slider to the extreme is not always a good idea, as it will ruin the image in other ways.
4nd step : Similarly, hover over the Sharpen tool and click Auto to let the app automatically adjust the sharpness.
5nd step : You can click the tool to display more options. You can adjust Intensity, Edges and Fall off settings. Play around with the sliders and see what gives you the best results.
The Photos app is powerful enough
As you can see, the built-in Photos app has been transformed into an image editor capable of making basic adjustments. It is still powerful enough to edit and adjust images stored on your Mac.
