See the series in Original version it has multiple benefits. Not only can it help us learn languages or even train our ears a bit, but it also allows us to enjoy audiovisual works as they were created. And it is that, no matter how good a dubbing actor is, seeing a film or series in its dubbed version means decaffeinating the work of its actors. Netflix knows that the vast majority of its users watch content with subtitles. For this reason, the platform Streaming has a large section in which we are going to be able to customize these labels to our likingas we will explain in the following lines.
Here's how to change the look of Netflix subtitles
Unlike other platforms Streaming, Netflix has subtitles for pretty much all the content they uploaded to their servers. And not only will we be able to choose the language that interests us, but we will also be able to change the visual appearance of subtitles in case you prefer.
To make the changes, you'll need to log in to Netflix from a browser. If you have apple devicesyou will need to perform another different process which we will explain in the last section.
Steps to follow for set your subtitles They are as follows:
- Go to the site of Netflix.
- Hover your mouse over your profile picture in the top right. Now select 'matters'.
- In 'Profile and parental control', select your profile.
- Now select 'Subtitle appearance'.
- At this point, you will be able to change the font, color, and font size (there are three in total). In addition, you can activate the shadow if you wish, and choose the color of it. You can also activate a colored background and even a fixed window.
- Make any changes you deem necessary. This will automatically update the preview panel to show you how it will look. If you see you messed it up a bit, you can restore the defaults.
- Once you have it, click 'Save'.
In our case, we set it to a yellow, medium-sized block font and a black background with no shadows. This guarantees a contrast very good, although visually it is not particularly pretty. Once configured, all compatible devices will display that style of subtitles you designed as long as you consume Netflix content from your profile.
Set up closed captions on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
On Apple devices, the subtitle setting is done independently of what you have set in Netflix. To do this, you need to follow these steps:
- On your iOS / iPadOS / tvOS device, go to Settings > Accessibility > Subtitle.
- Tap on the option 'Style'. A similar menu will appear where you can choose the font size, font, and color. Additionally, you can also configure text opacity and a background, as well as a small border to further enhance the contrast.
- Once you have your ideal setup, this style will be applied automatically when play a Netflix series or movie.
